Big Brother 5, September 11 Live Feeds: Who's On a Power Trip?

by Jeffrey Clinard -- 09/12/2004
It's possibly the most important veto competition in the show! Who wins it, and why are they on a power trip about it? Plus, Drew and Diane have a fight! I know, I'm shocked too. This article contains spoiler material!

Good Morning Houseguests!

Big Brother lets the houseguests sleep late, though Nakomis is up and about hours before the rest of them. She putters around and plays solitaire, then does laundry.

Drew and Diane wake up a few hours later, and cuddle and kiss. They like the way Big Brother is letting them sleep in. Diane worries that if it's her vs. Nakomis, then she's going home. They talk about the time they've spent in the house, and realize it's been over two months since Mike was evicted. They count down the time left, and think it will be strange to see people like Holly at the reunion. Drew thought Jase would win, but Diane says neither he nor Scott expected to. Both think the previous day (with the shopping spree) was the best they've had in the house. Diane says she's had nothing but fun in the house (yeah, except for the way the houseguests she stabbed in the back treated her).

They and Michael finally get out of bed. Diane's plan for the day is to sunbathe after she does laundry.

Michael confides to Drew that he wants to win HOH and take him with him to the finals. He also thinks he has to win veto tonight. Michael asks Drew about Diane - if there is a plan to go to the finals with her. Drew says Diane is assuming it because of their relationship. He plans to teach April how to play Euchre so that when he and Diane visit him, they can play together.

Indeed, the four houseguests play Euchre when the cameras aren't on the fish tank. They finally change into their new clothes.

Diane and Drew spend time in the HOH room watching the spy camera, then trying to figure out a name of a singer. Big Brother joins in, ringing bells or sounding buzzers. Finally, they decide they've been worn out by sleeping in, and decide to take a nap.

Diane and Drew ponder the upcoming veto challenge, and consider Michael's position in the game. Diane thinks it would be ironic of Michael skated through the whole game winning nothing except the final HOH competition. She also plans to keep at least one promise (the one to Nakomis). Drew tells her it's a little late to worry about breaking promises (do you really think so?).

The feeds go to fish for quite some time when the veto competition takes place, but once it is over, we learn that the competition involved knowledge of the history of Big Brother. They were apparently sequestered in different areas of the house, and the order they played was Drew, Michael, Diane, and Nakomis Who won? Michael! He goes on and on all night about the decision he has to make on the live show.

OK, once people have recovered from the shock, the houseguests go the storage room and find hobby kits. There are kits of bracelet making, soap making, and the like.

Michael asks if the other houseguests' parents grew up with dirt floors. He also talks about how he heard stories about how soda was a nickel way back when. He wishes he could get soda pop for a nickel.

Later, Michael comes into the HOH room where Diane and Drew are. He asks Diane to be nice to Nakomis. She has told him she knew what the plan was the moment he gave Diane the golf club in the jailbreak veto competition. He basically doesn't want Nakomis to be ignored like Adria and Mike were.

3:30 in the morning, and Drew and Diane have a fight. In short, Drew accused Diane of wanting him on the jury, and Diane also said she was going to tell Michael that she wanted him in the finals with her since Drew would be voted the money. They finally get back to a general gripe session about Michael; how he's on a power trip for having won veto, and how he is always pacing the house and snooping on what's going on with everybody. Diane then worries that Michael will vote her out, and tells Drew he has to promise her he doesn't have a deal with Michael - otherwise she won't ever see him outside the house. Drew thinks she's being paranoid over Michael's power trip. The finally start kissing, and go to bed at about 4:00 a.m.

Good Night Houseguests.
