Caesars 24/7, Episode 18: 21 Kisses

A&E network was being tricky today. After three hours of repeat episodes, this new episode aired at 4PM instead of the usual 6PM! I was lucky I didn’t miss it.

At any rate, in the first of the two back-to-back half-hour episodes of Caesars 24/7 airing tonight, we’ll meet Brandy Beavers’ sister and see a ton of lime Jell-O.

Brandy is up first tonight. Younger sister Natalie Beavers has come to Vegas. Currently a make-up artist, Natalie wants to break into the entertainment business. Brandy is looking forward to the visit, because she’s close to her sister and they have many things in common. Natalie, a redhead by the way, has some special news for Brandy. But we have to wait for that.

We have a couple of brief stories next, narrated by concierge Stephanie Adams. She mentions that most people are nice, but there are also people who are “eccentric or demanding.” We see a thankful couple give a present to their check-in clerk because they love their room. That’s nice!

Stephanie tells us many people don’t think of the elevators as public areas. They are. We see this as “elevator cam” catches an arguing couple. The wife waited until they were in the elevator before lambasting her husband that she didn’t want to come to Vegas. Oops!

Stephanie also tells us that it’s probably the room service guys that see guests at their oddest. Dorothy Smith of Room Services Dispatch says, “We’re here to please the guests. My thing is, if they want lime Jell-O, we have to just make sure we have enough to give them. Whatever they want to do with it, that’s not my business.” She laughs.

And one room has indeed ordered lime Jell-O. Not a bowl – several large serving pans of it. I can’t actually count them, but there might be ten! But we’ll have to wait to see where this story goes, because we have to go back to the Beavers sisters.

The Beavers sisters have a happy reunion. Natalie sees Brandy’s new boobs and her dressing room. Trust me – both are impressive! These girls are really close, and very similar in the way they look, act and talk.

At any rate, Natalie spills her news – that she’s moving to Las Vegas! Brandy is thrilled that she will have some family nearby. Natalie’s second bit of news is that she’s putting make-up behind her, and wants to be an entertainer. They go down to the Shadow Bar to celebrate. Brandy notes that although they are similar, they are also different – “kind of like sugar and spice.”

A group of kids from California have come to Caesars to celebrate the 21st birthday of one of their number – Amy. First drinks, first gambling… first kisses? Two cute guys give her 21 kisses on the cheeks, simultaneously. This gives her friends an idea. They make a bet – if Amy’s friends can get her twenty-one kisses from twenty-one hot guys, Amy has to pay for their room. Is she nuts? She’s a girl and this is Vegas, I bet they could find a hundred guys! Anyway, the bet is on.

Our scene shifts back to the Beavers sisters, who decide to go shopping together. We learn that Natalie has some large tattoos on her back and another in the cleavage. That’s not germane to the story, but I just had to mention it!

Brandy is starting to wonder if Natalie’s moving to Vegas is such a good idea. It seems Natalie doesn’t have a full game plan worked out, and that makes Brandy a little nervous. In fact, Brandy has some really funny looks on her face as Natalie says she might try for work in the Shadow Bar, and again when Natalie wants to move in with her for “a couple of months.”

The cart-load of Jell-O is delivered by services employee Gamaliel. A woman (sorry, no names were given) has it all poured into the bathtub! It seems to provide about eight inches of depth. It turns out her husband likes lime Jell-O. There’s also a bottle of champagne. Gosh, I wonder where this is leading? Looking nervous, Gamaliel says, “All I wanted to do was get out of there before her husband showed up.”

Meanwhile, at 10:49PM, California Amy starts gathering kisses. The first seven come easily, and the eighth comes from a guy getting married next weekend. Kisses 11-13 come from women, but I think the original premise has gotten lost in all the fun. The total grows to 14 as their whooping and hollering attracts the attentions of Rick from Security. Personally, this all seems about the most harmless thing in the 17 ½ episodes we’ve seen so far.

It’s lunchtime for the Beavers sisters. Brandy is more worried that Natalie is moving too fast – and onto her turf. The sisters go into one of the bars, and some guys buy them a drink. Some of the world’s oldest, saddest “beaver” jokes are trotted out, but the girls pretend to be amused. As they return to the room, Brandy says she needs to have a talk with her sister. To us, Brandy says she needs to “draw a line.”

Meanwhile, Security is called to a noisy room. They aren’t sure if it’s a fight or a party. The gal that answers the door isn’t initially decent, but in a few seconds she lets them in and Security can confirm for themselves that all is well. It must have been some discussion, guests on three sides made complaints. This non-story is not the highlight of the episode and I think I’ll pretend I never saw these 60 seconds.

Rick of Security finds out about California Amy’s 21 kisses, and hopes that the next step isn’t making out and then someone naked in public. Now, Amy seems like a very nice young woman, but we really don’t want to see her naked. However, Rick decides this is all harmless fun as Amy continues collecting kisses. Her 16th kiss is from a Caesar, though not Jim, our regular Caesar. Caesar presents her with a medallion, to the cheers of all. By the way, the 15th kiss was from his Cleopatra.

Her last kiss is a big wet one flush on the mouth. The same guy insists on a bonus kiss, and who is Amy to object? Fanning herself, Amy’s feeling the heat and announces that she’s had enough kisses for one night. She loses her bet but doesn’t mind it at all. It’s only 11:55, it only took 66 minutes to gather 21 kisses for Amy. And luckily for Rick, we stopped short of public nudity!

Brandy Beavers tries to explain to Natalie that she has to make her own way. Natalie says she’s “really bored with her life in San Diego.” Brandy understands, but says she can’t pay Natalie’s way. She says she can’t give her a job or a contact, but she offers her friendship and her love. Well, I think she’d like the contact too! After all, it’s still up to Natalie to prove herself worthy, and it is no reflection on Brandy if it doesn’t lead anywhere. Natalie seems fine with this, and they hug. Aww!

Natalie says she has one more surprise – that just like Brandy, she’s getting a boob job too. Brandy is outraged, screeching, “WHAT?!??” But it’s a fake-out, Natalie is just kidding. I don’t know why Brandy was so upset, she thought her own boob job was the best thing she ever did.

And thus it ends. Next episode, one minute!

In Conclusion:

Tonight’s episode of Caesars 24/7 was called, “Surprises for Everyone.” The tales of the Beavers sisters and Amy’s 21st birthday were great fun. The quickie tales of Caesars operations were OK but I wish we’d seen the husband’s reaction to the bathtub of Jell-O, though. I’ll give this episode an “A-!”
