Audrey says that the joke would have come across if they’d splashed water on their faces, but because John wasn’t there, his joke never quite came across. Kristen says that she never saw the commercial as a joke, which really shows that she didn’t get the idea in the first place. She and Audrey argue back and forth some more.

Trump says Kristen had no control over her team. Erin made a bad commercial, but at least her team was unified. Kristen had a bad product and lost control of her team. Kristen argues that her team is harder to lead, but Trump doesn’t think so. After all, everyone on Magna hates Michael, yet Erin lead him just fine. Kristen tries to save herself, but it’s too late. Kristen is fired.

I think it’s the right choice. If Trump was only going to fire someone from one team, it makes sense that he chose Net Worth. Erin may have lead her team to defeat, but at least she lead them well. As for Kristen, I don’t see it as a lack of control of the team so much as a lack of willingness to work with anyone else. Sure, she was in charge, but she should have had John right at her side to make sure the commercial came across as he envisioned it, the vision that the rest of the team really liked. Had she done that, the commercial would have been funny. More importantly, because John’s initial description of it had the runner wet his face, wash it, then rinse it, it would have made a lot more sense.

In her cab ride home, Kristen is clearly still mad. She says she thought their ad was great and her team worked well together. But since they lost, everyone took the easy way out and blamed the project manager. She adds that she would have been a great addition to the Trump organization.

I don’t normally recap commercials, but it’s worth noting that Trump and Carolyn introduce the ad that Dove really is using for their new product. Trump says that after seeing what the candidates came up with, Dove should definitely keep doing their own ads. You think? You think they should continue to rely on the work of professional advertising executives who have more than two days to put together the commercial? What a great idea! Anyway, the ad is obviously awesome because it has Miss Piggy in it. Anything with Muppets makes me happy.

Next week, the two teams are at each other’s throats! And in the boardroom, Trump has had enough. Ooh, interesting!
