“Accept the Unexpected!” – RealityNewsOnline’s Exclusive Interview with Big Brother 11’s Jessieby David Bloomberg -- 08/17/2009
View Printable version of this article As you’ll see below, Jessie twice tells me that he “accepts” the unexpected in this game. To be honest, I’m not really sure if he meant “accept” or “expect,” but if it’s the former, it’s a very profound way of looking at the game… for him. Beyond that, he has more to say about how he acted and how he might have been perceived, so read on! RealityNewsOnline: Hello again, Jessie, and thanks for taking the time to answer these questions from RealityNewsOnline. Jumping straight to the eviction, you’ve been worried about exactly this situation pretty much all week. Do you think it was fair? Jessie: For starters, the only reason I didn’t feel as worried last week is because Ronnie was up for eviction. Fairness has nothing to do with the game, or life, for that matter. Things happen that you cannot control… accept the unexpected! More so, the fact that I knew my fate was not in my own hands, but in the hands of America… that’s what’s not fair! RNO: Do you think it was unfair that America was given such a big say in the house, or that this power could undo all your planned strategy in one fell swoop – or both? Jessie: You’re absolutely correct on both counts. [The] tougher pill to swallow is that America didn’t have my best interests in mind. RNO: Despite America giving Jeff the power, do you think you were better received by America this season than last? Jessie: I’m assuming so due to the fact that the biased opinion the houseguests had of me when I entered the house were quickly shattered. You can silence one mouth, but not many. I feel I left the house with many friends intact. RNO: Why do you think your housemates chose to evict you instead of Natalie? Jessie: I didn’t play into Kevin’s strategic hand inside the game… that’s why he got the hand when he tried to say goodbye. The other votes were irrelevant. RNO: You seemed to take your eviction pretty well, all things considered. How are you really doing? Jessie: I already accepted it two weeks ago when we found out America got to vote… That was an uphill battle I was not about to win. I accepted the unexpected so it was not a surprise. That’s why I had my shirt ready. RNO: Going back to the beginning, how did your strategy coming into the game differ this season as compared to last? Jessie: It was a spittin’ image of last season’s strategy. Except this year, the people I aligned myself with were part of a winning team. RNO: Last season, you did a lot of stirring things up. This season, you seemed to sit back and let things happen around you a bit more. Was that part of your overall strategy? Jessie: No, last year, other people used my one-on-one confrontations as an opportunity to put the drama solely on me and it was blown out of proportion. This time, I was not the center of most confrontations and arguments… most of the house was often involved, so the spotlight was not on me... the tension was dispersed. RNO: Also last season, you talked about “respect” quite a lot, but we didn’t hear it so much this season. Why not? Jessie: The people I aligned myself with this season had the same mindset, so it didn’t need to be discussed. This season, my alliance felt as I do: you give it, you get it. RNO: You told me in your post-eviction interview last year, “I don’t see why I would need to adjust myself for the game because I’m going to be in real life when I walk out of here.” But as I mentioned earlier, you seemed different this year. Did you change yourself for the game this time around? Jessie: No. Everything’s situational. A lot of things I was trying to get across last year were not even an issue this year. There are two things, I’m 23 now (instead of 22) and I’m 20 pounds more muscle. RNO: Why did you target Casey less than two weeks after making a deal with him? Jessie: Because he was making comments behind my back… His indirect comments behind my back hindered my game even though what he was saying to my face was the exact opposite. Check out my blog/Twitter entries from Week 3 while I was HOH. RNO: If you could redo any moment in the house, but one not related to the game, what would it be? Jessie: Honestly, I have no regrets. RNO: And on the other side, what would you do differently game-wise? Jessie: Nothing. I played the best I could with the cards that were dealt to me. RNO: OK. Thanks again, Jessie!
