Big Brother 11’s Chima Is a Twit…terer

by David Bloomberg -- 08/20/2009
Chima may be out of the game, but she’s speaking her mind – when it suits her. She opened up a Twitter account and has posted some tweets that give us pretty good insight into how she thinks and acts. Is she still as high and mighty as she appeared to be? What does she say to her detractors? Read on to find out.

After Chima was ejected from the Big Brother house, she opened up a Twitter account and began tweeting some of her thoughts. Taking a look at these, it’s easy to see what Chima thinks of herself. I have to admit, with tweets only being 140 characters, I need to do a bit of speculation in a few cases, but I think I’m on pretty solid ground. And in some of them, she leaves no doubt whatsoever! Let’s take a look.

Chima began her Big Brother-related tweets on August 16 with a tweet saying, “A critic is someone who never actually goes to the battle, yet who afterwards comes out shooting the wounded.” If I had to guess, I’d say that was apparently aimed at those who write about Big Brother and criticized her behavior. It’s a frequently-used tactic, but usually by bad auditioners on American Idol when they whine that Simon has never been a singer so he can’t judge them. The fact is that it’s simply untrue. Those of us who have covered reality TV certainly can judge how people act there, and we have a lot of history to draw upon. But really, you don’t need much history to judge the way Chima acted during her time in the house. She signed on to a game and then refused to follow its rules, even intentionally destroying property in the process.

A short while after that tweet, she posted, “Keep talking bitches! You're making me famous.” Usually, this is a sentiment found by those who don’t like a particular reality show person who was extremely nasty, and doesn’t want us to keep writing about them or induct them into The Reality TV Hall of Shame (where Chima will soon reside) or something along those lines. So for Chima herself to say it is particularly ironic. She’s trying to use reverse psychology to stop people from talking about her! It won’t work (as evidenced by this article!) but she doesn’t need to worry – the only way she will be “famous” in the future is as the bitch who was booted out of Big Brother. She will always be remembered by some, but most of the general public will forget about her soon enough.

On the 18th, Chima tweeted, “While you're hesitating because you feel inferior, I'm busy making mistakes and becoming superior. Love me or leave me alone...kisses.” She’s certainly right about making mistakes, but I highly doubt the “superior” part. From what we saw, she thought she was superior the moment she walked into the house – and that was part of her problem! She was too superior to follow the rules, listen to Big Brother, etc.

The “Love me or leave me alone” part indicates to me that perhaps she was already getting annoyed at the negative attention – this after the earlier tweet about how people are just making her famous. How quickly things change.

Later on the 18th, Chima sent out the message that made me want to write this article. She said, “I find it hilarious that most of my detractors are ugly or fat. Sometimes a combination of the two. High school all over again. LOL!”

Wow. Just… wow. As one reader told me, “I like her even less now – and that’s saying something.” Another noted, “people who say things like that make me want to kick them out of the human race.”

Yes, Chima has now devolved to insulting the appearances of her detractors. I have to wonder how many of these people she’s even seen, since most of them are probably on the web! If the best you can say to somebody who is criticizing you is, “Oh yeah, well you’re fat and ugly,” then you’ve already lost the debate.

The particularly ironic part is that such behavior as Chima exhibited here is the kind you’d expect from children, yet she is the one bringing up high school. But as RNO recapper William Hammon recently said, with Chima around, it seems more like kindergarten than high school. She showed that again here.

What makes this tweet particularly ironic is that she issued a statement to Hollyscoop.com saying, in part:

Upon recently leaving the Big Brother show this season I have been privy to many judgments and criticisms made of every aspect of my being ranging from things as trivial as my appearance…”
Really? People attacked your appearance? How horrible that must be! I mean, what kind of person would do that? Oh. Wait. People just like you…

Besides her personal attacks, Chima also took time to briefly discuss her forcible eviction – and I do mean briefly. After Tuesday night’s show, she tweeted, “The revolution was obviously NOT televised...” It appears that was her way of reiterating her earlier claim (made by e-mail, not Twitter) that she walked off voluntarily. Sorry, Chima, I don’t buy it. Nothing we saw on the show or in the live feeds indicated there was anything voluntary about your departure.

Later she said, “Wish I could say more about the episode, but I can't.” Riiight. Suddenly she’s following the rules? After already having e-mailed out her “side” of the story? Sorry, I don’t buy it.

Most of the rest of Chima’s tweets have either been about the real world or comments like she’s happy she can sing out loud without being told to stop. But the ones I’ve quoted above show that the Chima we saw in the house certainly hasn’t changed. If anything, she’s become even more high and mighty in her opinion of herself.
