“Maybe a Taste of Power Gave Me a Big Head” – RealityNewsOnline’s Exclusive Interview with Big Brother 11’s Jeffby David Bloomberg -- 09/08/2009
View Printable version of this article RealityNewsOnline: Hi, Jeff, and thanks for taking the time to answer these questions from Reality News Online! First, I know you wanted to know how the Bears are doing, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you. You’ll just have to wait for that. Let’s get to the game. What was your strategy coming into the house? Jeff: To be honest, I didn’t have a strategy going into the house. I wanted to get in there and feel people out before I made any decisions. Maybe that’s why I had a rough Week One! RNO: How was your strategy affected by the individual players who ended up in the house with you? Jeff: Oh, it was… Different people bring different personalities and you have to sort of roll with the punches. My strategy evolved after I had a chance to feel people out. RNO: What did you think of the way Russell acted out at various times through the game, whether focused on you or Ronnie or Jordan? Jeff: I didn’t approve. I thought his actions were immature. It’s not something I would have done in those situations. RNO: Do you think attacking people like that is a valid way of playing the game, such as the way Evel Dick did it and won? Jeff: You know, all’s fair in the game. It’s just not a strategy I would personally use in the game… or life. RNO: Will you hold any personal grudges from the game because of either things like Russell’s behavior or Kevin backstabbing you? Jeff: No personal grudges. To me, it was just a game and hopefully they’re not like that in real life. What happens in the game, stays in the game. RNO: Do you think it was fair for you to get the power of Coup D’etat from Big Brother and America to overturn the normal play of the game? Jeff: Well, there are always twists in the game… and that was part of this game. It’s not new to this season. It’s happened in the past and, as twists are part of the game, I think it was fair (thanks again, America!). By the way, I feel like not a day went by that any plan I had was actually able to be executed the way I wanted it to. Things were constantly changing in the BB house. RNO: What would you have thought if you’d been on the other side – having your own power taken away? Jeff: It would have sucked. RNO: There seemed to be two Jeffs in the house – the one who was nice and to whom the public gave the Coup D’etat power, and the one who went on a power trip during his week as HOH. What happened to you during that week? Jeff: Really?… Maybe a taste of power gave me a big head and I didn’t realize it. RNO: You obviously won America’s affection early on, leading to the Coup D’etat power. How do you think America reacted to the power trip Jeff who turned on Russell and Michele in favor of his game-long enemies? Jeff: They probably didn’t like it. But Russell was never a friend of min in the house… I saw him as an enemy. When I took him off the block, he then voted for Jessie to stay, which pretty much told me we weren’t working together. When he tried to steal my ally (Michele) and make a final two deal, it made him just as much of an enemy. I felt like he was coming after me early on. If I had put Kevin out that week, I guarantee that Russell would have won HOH and put me up the following week. RNO: Speaking of which, why on Earth did you believe Kevin and Natalie when they had been your opponents for the entire game?! Jeff: I never believed them entirely. But I also didn’t believe Russell. So I did the obvious choice by getting rid of the stronger player. RNO: Why did you consider Kevin a bigger threat than Natalie? Jeff: Well, Kevin was a stronger player in my eyes and, strategically, a better player. To me, Natalie had no strategy and didn’t prove herself throughout the entire game. RNO: If you could redo any moment in the house, but one not related to the game, what would it be? Jeff: I might not have taken on Lydia as a friend in the beginning. RNO: And on the other side, what would you do differently game-wise? Jeff: I wouldn’t change anything. I just wish I would have won the last POV. If I would have gotten through this week, I think I would have won the game. RNO: Did you ever expect to find a romantic partner in the Big Brother house? Jeff: I don’t know how “romantic” things got in the BB ouse, but I never thought I’d find a friend like Jordan in there. RNO: What do you see in the future for you and Jordan? Jeff: Um… I don’t have my crystal ball handy (Ha!), but for now, I know we are good friends and will remain close. RNO: Thanks again, Jeff! Jeff: Thanks, David!
