An “Insider” Look at Survivor: One World, Episode 7, Part 2 – Tarzan and Other Ball Breakers

Luckily, she knows that this is a mental game and she has techniques that allow her to endure anyone. And there’s only 20 more days left in this game, so she can handle it.

“Tarzan is Out of Control”

Kat also thinks that Tarzan is completely out of control. He drives everyone crazy. But she says that Tarzan did the funniest thing earlier in the day. It seems that Chelsea was working hard to do her laundry when Tarzan came up and threw his dirty underpants into the pot. Chelsea loudly declared that she was about to throw up. Kat thought that it was hysterical, especially since Chelsea is so fussy about anyone messing with her stuff.

Around camp, they have created a phrase for what just happened to Chelsea. They say, “You just got Tarzaned.” So, whenever Tarzan talks down to you or when he screws up your puzzle or the food you are cooking, everyone just says, “You got Tarzaned!”

Kat says that having Tarzan around is like that Survivor season where they had that nutty guy Phillip around; everyone just focuses on the nutcase and leaves you alone.

“I Surprised Myself ”

Sabrina surprised herself in the ball-balancing immunity challenge. Based on her past performance in challenges, she knew that wasn’t any good at balancing on a beam and she figured that she’d be knocked out right away. But after three rounds, she looked around and saw that she was one of only a couple people left. But then she did lose her balance. She says that lasting as long as she did has given her a new wave of confidence.

As far as Troy winning the challenge, Sabrina says that everyone is happy for him since he’s been trying for 11 years to get on the show, and it must be a special thrill for him to win the first individual immunity. But, Sabrina adds, he better not keep winning challenges or people won’t be so thrilled with him anymore.

“I’m Doing it For Myself”

Kat tells us that this ball-balancing immunity challenge was the one that she really, really wanted to win. Her goal in this game is to show everyone just how really good she is at challenges. And remember that she said this same thing last week as well. She apparently doesn’t realize that, at this stage of the game, you do NOT want to be seen as a threat during challenges.

Kat is annoyed at herself that, when it was down to just her and Troy in the finals of this challenge, she lost her focus for a brief moment and looked over at Troy to see how he was doing. That was all it took and she dropped a ball.

Then she addresses my point. She acknowledges that it really isn’t a good idea to constantly do well at challenges. But, she says, she is not here to win the game but rather to prove to herself that she can do well under stressful situations. Besides, Kat doesn’t really think that people will vote her out just because she is doing well at every challenge so far.

“All Time Physical Low”

Kim tells us that after this immunity challenge she returned to camp completely exhausted and fatigued. She’s never felt this badly worn out in her life. She thinks that it is because the food supply is running low and she is just not getting enough to eat. Contrast that with her comments from last week at the ice-cream reward where she said that she was never hungry and a cup of rice was all that she ever needed.

She then tells us about her game strategy. Her plan is to simply blow in the wind and vote out anybody the main group wants. She will keep her head down and let the people with strong opinions lead the way. She hopes to sneak into the finals that way. Sadly, I’ll bet she’s right.

Tonight, the women want to vote out Jonas. Kim doesn’t want to do that because Jonas is a nice guy and a great chef. He’s the only person catching food and they really need food badly at this point in the game. But some of the women are worried that Jonas might be the key to rebuilding the men’s alliance and, for that reason, he has to be kicked out right now. And, of course, Kim’s not going to speak up and rock the boat.

And that does it for the clips for this episode. Andy and I will be here next week to review all of the great “Insider” videos from the CBS website no matter how many times we get Tarzaned.
