An "Insider" Look at Survivor: One World, Episode 8, Part 2 – Can’t Get Enough

He thinks that they could have had an insurmountable lead when they got to the puzzle if they had done it the other way. But they didn’t and the other team beat them. He was very displeased to see Leif and Mike gloating over their win. He pauses and adds that Leif had not won any rewards before so it was kind of okay for him to be happy. But it just wasn’t right to gloat.

But he doesn’t think that Mike should have celebrated. Troyzan says that he is a good sport and all, but he doesn’t think it’s right for the winning team to celebrate (when he’s not on the winning team, that is). It just gets under his skin that Mike did that.

“Can’t Get Any Better”

Sabrina is relaxing at the beautiful sponsor beverage oasis, created just for the reward challenge this week. She says that it can’t get any better just lying by the pool with a belly full of intoxicating sponsor beverage and beef, surrounded by people who don’t get on her nerves.

Another great thing about the spa is the fresh-water pool for the players. She says that they’ve been without shampoo or toothbrushes or soap for 21 days now and she hasn’t felt clean. She notes that her hair is always salty and she had lost her natural curl. But now that she’s had a swim in the fresh water, she feels that she’s shed several pounds of dirt and her hair is clean enough that it is regaining its curl. She is quite happy.

“Coolest Reward Ever”

Kim is also relaxing at the spa. She’s lying on a soft couch next to prominently displayed bottle of cool, refreshing sponsor beverage, glistening with little sweat beads. She says that this is the coolest reward that she’s ever seen on Survivor. She’s thankful for being able to swim and wash up in the fresh water of the pool. Her belly is full and she is as happy as can be.

She says that she’s watched the show for a long time and never understood just how hungry and dirty the players get after three weeks in the jungle. But now that she’s here, she knows how difficult it is and how much these kind of rewards mean to the players.

Like Sabrina, Kim is also having troubles with her hair. Over the last few weeks it has gotten all oily and nasty to the point where she can’t even run her fingers through it. This swim in the fresh water has helped that out a little bit. [Editor’s Note: I’m thinking this “fresh water” didn’t stay fresh for very long!]

She concludes by saying that, compared to the nasty water they’ve been drinking for three weeks, having a nice, tasty beverage like sponsor beverage is just unbelievable.

“I’m a Happy Camper”

Troy is holding a bottle of sponsor beverage and drinking it. He tells us that sponsor beverage was his favorite drink when he was a kid (and he shows the logo to the camera). When he saw that as the reward, he was excited because they don’t normally get anything cold or sweet; everything is usually warm and salty. He was very disappointed not to go on the reward.

But later in the evening, when the winners returned to camp, Leif and Mike were carrying a cooler of cold and refreshing sponsor beverage for everybody. Troy says that it was just like going on the reward anyway and he is a very happy camper.

Troy was hoping that the winners would bring back and share some of their reward. When they did, he was glad. But then he noticed that the cooler, with ice and thirty or more bottles of chilled sponsor beverage, weighed about 200 pounds and that was a huge effort by the men to carry it back when they really didn’t have to.

That makes it weird that all of the other comments by the losers in this article were so bitter and angry at Mike and Leif for winning the reward even though they carried 200 pounds through the jungle to share it. And even worse, they voted Mike out of the game the next day. That’s not very appreciative at all.

Survivor Collection of Products

Troy does appreciate the sponsor beverage and says that there is still enough to last everyone for the rest of the game, if they drink about a half a bottle a day each. He hopes that it will last and he’ll be savoring every drop of that sweet nectar of the gods. He holds the logo on the sponsor beverage bottle up to the camera again.

“Got to Deal With It”

In a clip not about the reward challenge, Alicia talks about the weather. She says that they’ve been getting pretty lucky so far and avoided most of the bad weather. But it is winter time in Samoa, so that can’t last forever. They haven’t had any storms as bad as they had that first week, but it is still frustrating to get constant smaller storms. There are eleven people all trying to huddle up and stay dry inside the shelter and it is just too crowded. She’s just going to have to deal with it.

She says that’s she’s okay with the weather but the other girls can’t handle being chilly all the time. The only thing that bothers her a little bit is being wet all the time. She notes that they don’t have many clothes – typically whatever they are wearing is it. If they get wet, they are wet for the whole day.

Final Thoughts

That does it for the clips for this episode. Andy and I will be be here next week to review all of the great “Insider” videos from the CBS website. If a truck full of delicious sponsor beverage shows up on my doorstep this week, you can be sure that the sweet, sweet nectar will get very prominent placement in future recaps. [Editor’s Note: Well, it will if it ends up on the Editor’s doorstep as well. Actually, he’d prefer the Diet Sponsor Beverage, please.]
