Angel Juarbe's Body Foundby Richard Hoeg -- 07/10/2002
View Printable version of this article On Wednesday, November 28th, the body of Angel Juarbe, Jr., was found in the ruins of the Mariott hotel. He was a firefighter for the 12th ladder company in New York City and was one of the unfortunate many who found themselves at ground zero on September 11th. Less notably, he was the winner of Fox's reality TV show Murder in Small Town X, a show on which I had the honor of reporting. It was just one week after Angel was crowned as MISTX's champion that all of America witnessed the tragedies across our country. Just a short time later, Angel was among those listed as "missing." In addition, stories of his final heroic actions as he gave his life to help save his companions later came to light. Only now, more than two months later, can we, for certain, begin to look back on such a remarkable man. In the next few days, RealityNewsOnline will be publishing an interview I did with Gary Fredo, the host of MISTX, back in October. In addition, we will post a selection of the more than 100 e-mails I have received from people whom Angel has touched. It will be difficult and trying, as it has been for almost three months, but in the end Angel has left an indelible mark on the people that have known him. Let us celebrate him for what he was and always will be: a champion. Richard Hoeg is an Economics major at Hillsdale College.
