Big Brother UK 8, Days 70-73: Children of the Scorn

by Sting7 -- 08/14/2007
It has been a rocky few days in the Big Brother UK house! Which houseguests have become oddly argumentative? Plus, Brian’s biggest dream has come true! Or has it? And why are all three of the new housemates feeling more displaced than ever? Who has been nominated for eviction now, and who is leaving?

In case you haven’t read previous articles, the houseguests are:

Amanda – 18-year old twin sister of Sam. Shrill, giggly, but she and her sister are emerging as surprising sly game players. Everyone is taking them lightly and that is a mistake! Clearly inspired by Paris and Nicole.

Sam - 18-year old twin sister of Amanda. Sam is the gutsier, daredevil half of the twins. Amanda is a bit more girly, and a hair more outspoken. Sam is the twin that likes to volunteer for things and doesn’t mind being without makeup. Could be the mastermind of the two.

Tracey – 36, pink-haired, butch, raver. Multiple nominations have made her realize she is, in fact, playing a game! She’s definitely playing it now!

Carole – 53, divorced, bisexual, professional protester. She says she raises dust wherever she goes. She seems to have settled into a house mother role.

Ziggy – 26, music producer, former model, former boy band member. Says he doesn’t like aggressive or arrogant people. Being in the house has made him rather quick-tempered and rash. Once favored to win, his tumultuous romance with Chanelle has caused his popularity to plummet.

Gerry – 31, Greek, gay, gallery researcher. Gerry tends to get emotional about things, but is proving to be a good listener. Looks like Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode. Slowly evolving as the voice of reason in the house.

Liam – 22, tree surgeon. Has already won 100,000 pounds, and is favored to win the show outright. Liam had brief fling with Nicky and seems to have set his sights on Amanda. He looks like Third Eye Blind’s Stephen Jenkins.

Brian – 19, black, tall and lanky. Has become a sentimental favorite, in a harmlessly oafish sort of way. Brian seems to have no real interest in winning the game, he just wants to party. He has never heard of Shakespeare.

Kara-Louise – 22, student, rates herself 10/10 on attractiveness and feels she looks like Mariah Carey, “only much fitter.” She says she will smile through adversity always, no matter what Big Brother throws at her. Somehow, she made that creepy.

Jonty – 36, museum visitor assistant, virgin, loves stuffed animals. Yes, he has not had sex with anyone. Ever. But, he has indulged in sexual spankings with women. And men. That’s enough.

Amy – 21, glamour model (as opposed to the run-of-the-mill model?), says her worst job was stacking yogurt at a grocery store, and calls herself a teetotaler. She has phobia of failure and has every intention of winning Big Brother.

The next morning, Amy tells Kara-Louise that Ziggy and Liam had a chat about her. She could tell because Liam didn’t really bother to try to hide it. Kara-Louise says boys are so odd sometimes.

Tracey and Brian have a chat about Gerry. He seems to be arguing with everyone these days. They think he is losing it. Later, Tracey, Gerry, Brian, Ziggy, and Liam are chatting about what happens with nominations. Is it another double eviction? Ziggy asks if everyone has an idea who they want to nominate. Liam says he knows “what the deal is.” Ahem. I think we all do now. The “deal” is get rid of the new people!

Big Brother calls the twins to the diary room and proudly announces it has created a time machine. Big Brother does it in a weird disembodied voice that scare the crap out the twins! BBDV says pull back the lever… and they travel back to 3 months ago! It was at this time when the twins were given the option of playing as individuals or as one houseguest. If they decide to play as one houseguest, they will have to face the public vote this week. The twins take no time at all to decide – they want to play as one houseguest. So be it, says BBDV.

They twins dash out to tell the other houseguests. This is cause for celebration for them and Brian who can’t wait to hug them (I think that is horniness). Tracey looks at this scene with a bemused confusion. Liam and Tracey have a conversation about Amy. Liam says the more he hangs out with her, the less he fancies her. The sad thing is we don’t if this is true or he is telling the others what they want to hear.

Liam wonders if he is coming off as a poseur and asks generally. Amy can’t wait to inform him he is. Liam counters that her running around with her cleavage showing is a bit poseur-y. She says she can’t help it if she has big boobs. Liam says so does he, but he keeps them covered! Before she can defend herself, she gets called to the diary room for nominations. Gerry and Liam make fun of her.

As nominations go, Kara-Louise gets six nominations. (Mostly because the houseguests say she is complaining about being bored.) Jonty and Amy get five, so all three will face the public vote, just like the twins. The “deal.”

Kara-Louise and Brian go through time (in the diary room) back to 2002. They get to compete in a task with Big Brother UK 3’s Alex and Adele! Brian is beside himself! Despite his excitement, or maybe because of it, he and Kara-Louise do horribly. They can’t wait to tell everyone about it. “Who the hell is Adele?” snarls Gerry.

In the caravan, Kara-Louise and Brian reflect on their fun day. Kara-Louise says she finds Big Brother harder than she imagined. She’s not as bored so much as she needs time to adjust. Brian thinks that makes sense. He’s also delighted to know that Kara-Louise doesn’t know what Gerry is talking about when he goes on about museums and history. She says she just smiles and agrees. Brian is so excited he goes in for a kiss, Kara-Louise gives him a little misdirection.

Brian then chats up Amanda. He tells her again how pretty she is, while she wants to hear more about the Big Brother UK 3 people. For a while. Liam tells Brian that Kara-Louise has admitted having a crush on him. Brian seems too drunk for it to register… or he doesn’t care.

In the bathroom, Amanda and Kara-Louise are talking about Brian. Kara-Louise is encouraging Amanda to go for it, as Amanda suddenly seems to be leaning toward giving in! Suddenly, in the caravan, Amanda and Brian are in full flirt. Brian moves in to kiss her…but, Amanda is not done with her tea. Brian tells her to hurry up. Brian pulls the duvet over them and kissing sounds are head… as Liam sits in the garden pretending not to eavesdrop. In the diary room, Gerry excitedly says it’s a “sexually charged night.” Then he calls Big Brother a big ol’ gossip.

Next, in the diary room, Brian says he is walking on a cloud! Amanda returns to the bedroom to go to bed, and she and Brian sneak one last kiss… as Liam pretends to be asleep. Good night!

The next morning, Brian awakes like Barbarella! Amanda awakens, and Sam asks her if Amanda was “dead drunk” last night. Amanda admits she was. Sam asks what was going with Amanda and Brian, and Amanda puts the duvet over their heads to whisper. Brian knows they are whispering about him and just grins like a cat with a belly full of warm milk.

Jonty and Gerry have a conversation about the London Museum. Gerry talks about the contribution made by a Greek shipping “magnet.” (He means “magnate.”) Jonty makes a joke about having to move all the steel sculptures to another floor… and as is his way, Jonty giggles to himself (he sounds like Snidely Whiplash’s dog!). Gerry, because English is not his first language, doesn’t get the joke.
