Big Brother 3, August 10: House Full of Hypocrites

by David Bloomberg -- 08/10/2002
Chiara was mad at Lisa for saying mean things about her when it was really Chiara talking behind Lisa's back. Josh is mad at being strongarmed even though he has used the same tactics previously. Yes, it's a house full of hypocrites - and they aren't even terribly smart ones, at that.

We begin where we ended on Thursday -- with the tie-breaking vote cast by Gerry to evict Eric. Eric was shocked. Roddy was shocked. Lots of people were shocked. Jason says he feels a bit responsible since he was the third vote - the one that caused the tie. Chiara says she lost a friend. She thinks Lisa is great and all (or not) but they haven't really connected. Lisa and Roddy console each other. But as for Danielle? She continues her running count by noting it's "four down, six to go."

Gerry has a bit of anxiety about Chiara moving into the HoH position. This is not surprising, as many people, including Kent Blackwelder from last year's house instantly predicted that Gerry would be put up for nomination. Jason is also worried about the possibility of revenge. Roddy, of course, is glad that a close friend got it. Well, he's glad for now…

Josh is once again proving his insight by saying that there is "no way my Jew ass goes up." What a clueless wonder. But he thought he'd get himself some brownie points by tattling on an apparent deal between Marcellas and Jason to Roddy. "Dad! They're shaking hands without me!"

Roddy goes straight to Marcellas and, in his own words, sells out Josh. Roddy figures out that Jason cast the third vote against Eric and says Jason knew that Roddy was looking for support for Eric. Marcellas shoots back and says, "he's allowed to make whatever decision he wants to make." Meanwhile, Josh thinks he's got it all figured out. He says Jason has to go because "he used Roddy like a prostitute." Thanks for that image, Josh.

Chiara pulls Jason aside for a little discussion. Jason says he had to vote out the threat, but denies he has a deal with Marcellas. Privately he says he didn't come here to be somebody else's pawn - he came here to win. Chiara says there might be payback.

But payback for what? I mean, Chiara can't admit that she wanted Eric to stay, can she? Well, whether she admits it or not, Danielle helps Lisa do a little math and come to the (correct) conclusion that Chiara voted against her. Lisa is rather pissed off about this and says Chiara stabbed her in the back. She says Chiara will feel like an idiot when she gets out of the house and sees that she never said anything bad about her. But now she has become the Princess of Darkness and she needs revenge. Oooooh. Scary. Not.

In between the backstabbing and scheming, we move into a segment about Gerry trying to get in shape. He's exercising - a lot. Josh has noticed his dedication. Jason has noticed that Gerry's clothes are looser. Everybody is thrilled.

Moving on.

Roddy is having some trouble finding his intellectual equal in the house. No kidding. He says the others have different interests than he has - they make too many pop culture references, but if he brings something up, they think he's rocking the boat. Chiara says he has an explanation for everything, but when he talks, you're like, "What?" Well, maybe you are like that, Chiara, but some people actually have read books other than 101 Favorite Sexual Positions. But we'll get to that in a minute. She says he needs to loosen up on certain things - the information he provides just doesn't change her day. Let me guess, Chiara, you watch more of the Cartoon Network than CNN, dontcha?

Roddy begins to realize that people are probably tuning him out. But when he talks about it with Chiara and Josh, and says he's going to back off a bit, they both say everybody is just joking around with him and they are all actually really interested. Liars.

Roddy says he loves to have intellectually stimulating conversations. So I have to wonder one thing: Why the Hell are you hanging out with Chiara?! Even if this relationship makes it through the show, no way it's continuing when they get back in the real world.
