Big Brother 3: Eyes Open, Mouth Shut

Big Brother 3 has had some drastic changes when it comes to dealing with strategy and choosing people to trust. Danielle may have the best strategy so far with her "eyes open, mouth shut" system. However, it seems as the game moves on, others are starting to catch on to this strategy. Let's look at how each player is approaching this method, and if it is working for them.

Amy - From the beginning of the game, Amy has gotten emotional over things that really were not that big of a deal. She does have a tendency to speak her mind a bit too much, and that could be a problem in this game. Her nomination brought her some sympathy, and now she must play off that. However, if she does not realize this, then here eyes are not open. Amy's eyes are shut, and her mouth is open, which is not a good combination.

Danielle - As the originator of this strategy, Danielle understands it the most, and has used it most to her advantage. She has bitten her tongue numerous times, and is always watching to see if there is an opportunity to make someone think that she is completely on their side. There have not been many times that she has slipped up, and when she does, Danielle can cover her tracks easily. Danielle's eyes are open, and her mouth is shut, which is the perfect combination.

Jason - Jason, being such good friends with Danielle, understands this strategy and works it well. However, there are times that Jason is confronted by other houseguests and cannot lie to them. In this game, you have to learn when to keep your mouth shut. Jason's problem is that it is easy for someone to tell when he is lying, and to work on him in order to get the truth. His eyes are open, but his mouth is, too. This could cause trouble for him (or others) in the long run.

Lisa - If anyone is closest to Danielle with perfecting this strategy it is Lisa. Her only problem is that she publicly announced her strategy in the middle of an argument with Chiara. The problem now is that the other houseguests know that Lisa is watching them, and not adding her own comments into the conversation. If she is talking, others may not believe her. Lisa's eyes are open, but her mouth is, too, at times.

Marcellas - The thing with Marcellas is that he is just like Amy in most ways except he thinks he has the game down. He is one of the worst when it comes to spreading gossip, and does not know when to let up. He is also too blind to see that Roddy is playing him because Marcellas wants to believe that Roddy is looking out for him. His eyes are sealed and his mouth cannot be shut most of the time.

Roddy - Roddy is the wildcard when it comes to this strategy. At times it seems as if he has it down, but then when he gets frustrated, Roddy has a tendency to try and talk to everyone and cover all his tracks. When it comes to watching for advances he can make in the game he is right there, it's just the fact that sometimes he tries to work his charm a little too much. His eyes are open, and so is his mouth half the time. It is too hard to tell if this is affecting him in the game though.

This strategy may be the best one presented so far this season. It seems as though Danielle has it down with Lisa, Jason, and Roddy very close behind her. Poor Amy and Marcellas though have no chance of picking up on this strategy because either they are too naïve to understand it, or too emotional to grasp it. Only time will tell if the strategy actually works - especially this season, when strategy has all too often gone out the window in favor of emotion.
