Tough Enough September 10 Update: Hugh Morrus a Trainer for TE3; Jackie, Harvard Chris, and Matt in the OVW; and More!

by Mike DeGeorge -- 09/10/2002
Mike is back with more news on the previous and upcoming WWE Tough Enough series. We find out more about one of the trainers and Lance Storm (shown at right), who will be appearing as a guest. And we look back to see what some of the previous contestants are up to now.

Finally, some interesting news happens in the world of Tough Enough. Well, not MAJOR news, but news nonetheless.

Jackie debuted in OVW on Wednesday the 4th as part of the Grand Opening celebration card for the New Davis Arena. She accompanied The Damaja as part of "The Revolution," which is the faction led by OVW owner Danny Davis' nephew Doug Bashem trying to "take over" OVW. During Damaja's match on Wednesday, Jackie squabbled with existing Revolution member Victoria (which probably means that Victoria is out of OVW, as she has appeared on Raw lately) but managed to get the low-blow on Damaja's opponent Randy Orton to give Damaja the victory.

Also part of the OVW show, Harvard Chris lost what was said to be a very good match to Russ Haas. Chris continues to impress with his old-school style and ability.

Matt participated in a tag team match teamed with the "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry in a match against the new Disciples of Synn. If Matt will be programmed against Synn and her charges, this will be a good angle for him, as Synn seems to always be in the middle of the action in OVW.

There will be no matches this Wednesday due to the 9-11 anniversary, so we should know more about how Jackie's and Matt's new angles will shake out in a couple weeks.

In TE3 news, we all know that "Hugh Morrus" will be one of the trainers for the new show. Fortunately for everyone involved, he will be using his real name, Bill DeMott. I always thought Hugh Morrus was a REALLY stupid name, but it's better than "Hugh G. Rection," another gimmick he was given. I wonder how much of the show will be Bill and Al comparing bad gimmicks…

WWE wrestler Lance Storm recently posted a commentary on his website saying that he taped a guest trainer appearance for the new series. Confirming a theory of mine from past years, he says that he was really given no direction or script for his session, and thus resorted to making fun of Al Snow most of the time. Sounds like fun.

Also, I remember hearing somewhere (but don't quote me on this) that the TE3 gang would be going to Iceland. Yup, Iceland. Just when you thought they hit the bottom of the ridiculous trips barrel with South Africa…

Taylor says in her latest commentary that she will return from her Arsion tour on the 25th, and reveals the news that she plans to go back there in January. If she has appearances between now and then in the States, I'll be sure to let you know.

Last time out, I reported that Jake had an indy booking with UPW in California. Apparently, he pulled out of the show. Word is that the promoters thought he had a superior attitude, and that he felt he was "above" the other workers on the card.

They showed snippets of Jake's personality on TE2, especially after the finale. So it's not surprising that he's getting a bad reputation. Perhaps this may have more to do with why he didn't win than anything else. Still doesn't explain Kenny, though…

We also learned back at the time of the Reunion Show that Bobbie Jo was pregnant. A long-time friend of hers emailed me recently to tell me that she has given birth to a baby boy named Adin. We'd like to extend our congratulations to Bobbie Jo.

Finally, Maven is expected to miss six more weeks with his injury. This is not a recording.

Mike DeGeorge, an accountant from St. Louis, is just glad the football season is starting again. Next month, hockey will be in season, and I'll be a happy man. Email Mike at mikmaria@earthlink.net.
