Big Brother 3's Danielle: Can She & Should She Win?

A little while ago, the staff of RNO debated whether or not Danielle can win. I thought that I would contribute my answer, which cuts both ways: yes and no. But I'm leaning more towards yes. At this point, anyone in the BB3 house can win. I think the more important question viewers have been asking themselves is "should Danielle win?" I'm one of the few that doesn't really see anything wrong with the way Danielle has played the game. If I were Danielle, the only thing I'd have done differently is tone down my Diary Room sessions. But, let me back up.

To answer the "can she" question, I'll say yes. Why? Because I've watched the live feeds and when I can't watch the live feeds, I read the transcripts. I'm about 99.9% positive that the evicted houseguests have too. Wouldn't you? I've read the argument that against Lisa in the final two, there's no way Danielle could win. I'm gonna be so bold as to disagree. Lisa has said some pretty horrible things about Tonya and Gerry and it's all over the live feeds. Those who think that Lisa would have either of their votes should think again. And I won't even get started on Lisa's goodbye message to Gerry. Chiara may not be a locked vote for Lisa either. She turned on her once and I don't see any real reason for Chiara to hand her $500,000. Especially when her last words to Lisa were, "Why didn't you vote for me?"

Up against Jason it's a bit tougher. I don't think there's one houseguest, evicted or otherwise, who doesn't like Jason. The one thing working against him may be that others would see him as weak and a pawn and therefore not deserving of the dough. I definitely don't see him getting Josh's vote against Dani. I think there were some serious jealousy issues there on Josh's part but, I digress.

I won't even get into Dani vs. Amy because if Amy makes it that far, I will eat this keyboard.

Should Dani win? I think so. I don't see anything wrong with her strategy. She laid low in the beginning, coerced others (which is their fault if you ask me) to nominate who she wanted, and even intimidated a little. For those who come into that house thinking they are going to play fair and honest and not tell lies, more power to 'em. But don't be all shocked and amazed when: 1. You are booted and 2. You view the tapes and find out you were lied to… a lot. Dani is playing the game the way it was meant to be played. Her only two mistakes might be her Diary Room sessions and coming off as more in need of the money than the others.

The woman truly doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. I'm sure it's easy to go into that room, the only private time you really get away from the other houseguests unless you're HoH, and just run your mouth like loose bowels. But is it smart? Heck, no. There's always the chance that what you're saying won't even make it on air, but why take that chance? You wanna talk mess? Wait 'til you get home with your $500,000 check and whine to your family about Gerry's hygiene or Amy's drinking. And you damn sure don't want to keep on about someone being Lucifer or being "nasty and needing Jesus." You want them out, but you also want their vote later. At least when Will did it, there was so much humor attached you had a hard time telling if he were serious. In the beginning, I don't think many viewers wanted Will to win the money, but we didn't want him gone either. He was the highlight of most of the shows. Dani may not be so lucky.

I think Danielle's insistence that her family needs this money like no other may have gotten on the other houseguests' nerves. They may all agree with Roddy in the end and say, "This isn't the Make-A-Wish foundation." Then again, she may get the pity vote for that.

Finally, if it's a tie and America's votes are the deciding ones, she can forget it. From message boards, live feed chat rooms and friends of mine, I'm getting the feeling that most BB3 viewers consider Ms. D the true Lucifer.
