Big Brother 3, September 21: The Final Two

by C. Brian Devinney -- 09/22/2002
Last we saw of the Big Brother 3 houseguests, they were sitting in the middle of a pool holding on for dear life as a monsoon of rain swirled around them. Danielle especially did not look too happy about the entire thing. Tonight, we will see the conclusion of that challenge, hear the results of the challenge held last night, and see the final head of household competition done live. Finally, one more person will leave the house and be just out of the money. Will it be Lisa, Danielle, or Jason? You just gotta wait and read.

Of course we start with a recap of Amy getting evicted and Jason being somewhat remorseful. For the first time we hear Jason say that just perhaps he might not have won against her. Danielle is focused on her alliance with Jason and Lisa. Lisa was just thankful there wasn't a final change of plans to get her out of the house.

So back into the monsoon we go with the fake lightning and them bailing each other out. There's Julie in perhaps the worst thing I have seen her in so far. It's rather plain and I have to admit I think the wardrobe people have pretty much given up on her. Amazingly, she's the only cast member of the CBS Early Show who has not quit or resigned, and trust me that's not saying very much now is it?

Danielle says the rain was fine for the first ten minutes until it became a storm. Jason just wanted to hang onto his key "for dear life." And then the rain is gone. Lisa was just in game mode because she was so smiley and confident. In fact, it was all about clothing for her. Her top was her mother's and her underwear was… Eric's? Boxers or briefs, Lisa? We wanna know!

Danielle looked miserable and everyone had chattering teeth. Lisa thought Danielle's actions were a trick and she was pretending. Anyway the rain came again and in his struggle to get his hat on, Jason lost his focus and took his hand off of the key. Off went the hand and off went Jason. Now Danielle is all on her own and she needs to hang on if she wants to possibly stay in the game.

Lisa says the only time that Danielle talked was during the rain when she would try to psych herself up to manage her way through the storms. She birthed babies and this is nothing compared to that, Danielle yells. Of course, Jason did the stupid thing by coming out and eating warm soup in front of them, and he even comes out and tempts them with soup on the stove waiting just for them. Danielle is ready to pull off the key but Lisa knows the right moment to ask Danielle if she had an alliance with Jason. Lisa called her bluff and although Danielle says she had no idea what Jason was going to do, Lisa knew what the deal was - she was out of there if she didn't win. Finally, Danielle and Lisa broker an agreement that if either of them make it to the final two, they will take the other with them. She just broke her alliance with Jason.

Or did she?

She immediately tells Jason that she lied to Lisa and tells Jason that if she wins HoH, she's taking Jason with her no matter what. She's a scumbag if she wins it. She says that it's a priority for her to win the money and it means more than her relationship with Jason and Lisa. She knows she's secured her spot in the final two if Jason or Lisa are head of household. She's eating her soup as we go to commercial and she's emotionally a wreck.

Well you just sold out your alliance mate, Danielle. How else are you supposed to feel? I hope you don't expect Jason to vote for you if he goes this week.

So now the second round involves a timed competition involving household tasks. There were six tasks to complete within seven minutes. Danielle is up first and she goes to the memory wall and puts photos of each houseguest in the order they were evicted. Second task is to go outside and wash a towel. The water has to be at a certain level in order for it to count. She wrings her towel, puts it in the dryer and turns it on and is off to station three where she had to make and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. At station four she has to put the houseguests in order they won power of veto. She says she didn't throw it but she wants Jason to win so she doesn't have to break her word with Lisa.

Jason is off and he is trying to go as fast as he can. He knows that he has to win because his butt is on the line. He knows that if he loses out he will be packing his bags. He picks up a lot of time in eating the sandwich because Danielle completely failed it by chewing so slow. Jason is already way ahead of Danielle at this point, which means he has won as long as he has done each task correctly. At the next station Jason has to pull photos out of the bottom of the pool and put the faces in order of who held head of household -but he was putting them in order of who was evicted, which doesn't really matter because time runs out. Coming out of the pool it was a bad hair day for him.

So who won the second round? Not just yet… it's filler time. And we get to hear Jason talk about letting go of the key and how those two held on for over four hours while shivering in the cold. Lisa says that her hips hurt from sitting so long and her hand is somewhat cramped. So now we hear the results and that Jason successfully completed four tasks, so he will go up against Lisa in the final round. Lisa tells Julie that she knows who she is taking the final round and Jason says he has a decision in mind so we shall see what happens.
