WWE Tough Enough 3, Episode 6: I Have an Owwwieeee!

by Mike DeGeorge -- 11/22/2002
As we move into our sixth episode of Tough Enough 3, we have a few storylines going on. First, Scott (at right) calls the girl of his dreams, who doesn’t even know he exists. Can this possibly have a happy ending? Some of the other guys get to have their own girlfriends visit, though. But Nick has an owie – he hurt his elbow and hopes it won’t mean he gets cut today…

The biggest TE news of the week comes from the latest Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter (go to http://torchnewsletter.com/ for ordering information):

Linda and Jackie, winners of TE2, have not been impressing people in OVW. Linda is considered a great athlete, but does not do her outside-the-ring work such as studying videos. Jackie, my favorite, is considered a total flop who doesn’t understand anything about the wrestling business.

As I’ve said before, I liked Linda from the start and hope she does well. As for Jackie, the words “cut your losses” might be appropriate here. As a reader who watches OVW regularly has commented: “She doesn’t even make a good valet.”

On Raw this week, Harvard Chris challenged Al Snow to a “School of Hard Knocks” match, basically another name for a Hardcore match. Chris won (making him 2-0 against Al) but got busted open pretty badly in the process. I still can’t believe how well Chris is doing!

On to the show. As always, thanks to Dale Sherman for a couple insights on some points that I missed.

We get the Jamie/John stuff out of the way quickly, as she hits on him. She asks him if anyone has a sign that goes, “I will ride you.” Um, okay. John says she couldn’t ride him in her wildest dreams. John says that Jamie knows he has a girlfriend, Jamie says she knows she shouldn’t hit on him but he’s just so darn cute.

As in previous seasons, two contestants will be able to invite a guest for the weekend. Big announces the lucky winners… Jonah and John. Hmm, maybe Jonah will bring in Jill.

Both decide to bring in their girlfriends. Jamie doesn’t want to ask John about it, because she doesn’t want to appear too eager. Which means, of course, that she’s very anxious about it.

Scott wants to buy John’s visiting rights (as we saw with Greg and Chris in the first season, the visits can be bought and sold) to invite a girl he knew in high school. Who he hasn’t spoken to in four years. John says that Scott offered him two thousand dollars. Jamie conveys the disbelief I feel.

Scott tells us that he met this woman halfway through his senior year in High School, and it’s really broken his heart that he hasn’t talked to her in four years. Scott has apparently not heard of the modern miracle of the telephone. My girlfriend and I immediately decide that she is some girl he daydreamed about all through school and she probably doesn’t even know who he is.

Two thousand dollars is all the money he has, but if he had more, he’d pay it. Because money can’t buy love. Does that make sense? Of course not, it’s Scott.

John tries to talk some sense into Scott. It being Scott, he hears none of it. It’s the most picture perfect plan! In bizarro psycho stalker world!

Justin thinks there’s no way that this chick will even want to TALK to Scott. Most people want to get as far AWAY from Scott as possible. Good point. Someone asks Scott if he will ask this girl to marry him, and he says yes! Of course! He just hopes that she’s thought of him once or twice in these four years.

Nick feels a little bad for Scott. Kelly says she’s comfortable around Nick, and might be interested in becoming more than just friends. Nick has noticed her coming on to him, and Justin thinks, hey, why not hook up?

Is it just me or is Justin being the Greek Chorus of this series? Doesn’t matter if he’s anywhere NEAR the goings-on, he’s always got a comment. Not that it’s a bad thing, I’m just saying.

Nick is telling John that Kelly’s not his type. She’s WAY too corny for him, for one. He only goes for supermodel types, for another. John thinks that Nick is something of a spoiled kid who believes his own hype. From what we’ve seen, that sounds right.

Nick is a master of going up to women and getting their number, just like that. It’s kinda boring, actually, it’s so easy it’s not even a challenge any more. Maybe he should compare notes with Scott, because he got two women’s numbers a few weeks ago without much effort! Again… I’m just saying.

He thinks it’s funny that Kelly likes him, since he’s shown absolutely no interest in her. But if Kelly were to make a move, he’d probably lower himself to associate with her. He can’t turn down a pretty girl like that. He’s too nice of a guy. How’s he been overlooked for a Humanitarian award for so long?

At Trax West the next day, Al shows the kids some transition moves, meaning transitioning from two feet down to the mat. Kelly feels she’s picking things up slower since her back injury is keeping her out. She feels she needs to work harder.

Nick tells us that the past few weeks have been exhausting. He thinks he’s doing well in the ring. Al, however thinks Nick is fine physically, but is soft mentally and emotionally.

Back at the mansion, Scott is preparing to call the woman of his dreams. Kelly agrees with us, that it’s probably just some girl he talked to once or twice. Nick thinks it’s too silly to even talk about. Because asking girls out is just too easy!

Scott is nervous. He hopes she isn’t married, he hopes she doesn’t have kids, but most of all he hope he’ll have the guts to follow through on this. As he dramatically dials the phone, we take a dramatic commercial break!

Scott calls Jennifer (the mystery woman), the first true love of his life. He explains who he is to the excited grunts of Jennifer on the other line. He says he’s in California and wants to keep in touch with her. “Ohhhhhh.” It’s not sounding good for our hero!
