Star Search, Episode 7: Final Picksby Peggy Keller -- 01/30/2003
View Printable version of this article In case you haven’t heard, before we begin with this episode, there is news on the Star Search front. The show has been picked up for another nine episodes. The downside is that it will apparently be pushing back The Amazing Race 4. In the final night of Star Search original performers before the semi-finals on Thursday, we meet pimp daddy Ben. When Arsenio introduces Ben Stein as judge, he is wearing a ruby fur coat and a hat tilted ala rap star. He looks ridiculous and hysterical. Ben is joined by regular judges Naomi Judd and Carol Leifer and by guest judges Master P and son, Lil Romeo. Before Arsenio introduces us to the junior singer category, he reminds us of the two previous winners from last week in this category. Lisa Tucker and Kailey Ervin will be joining the winner of tonight's contest in the semi-finals. Lorelei Caylan-Sinco, who is ten, starts off dressed appropriately like a ten year old. She sings “I Turn to You” and makes it look really effortless. A crowd pleaser, Lorelei has explained that her name in Hawaiian means heavenly beauty but in German means destructor of men. Naomi – 4, some nonsense about a seed that got planted. TMarie Rodriguez, 14, is second to perform, and has an okay voice. She has a ton of energy and sings “Nobody's Supposed to Be Here,” a song I have never heard before. She sounds a lot like Selena. She is very cute with a great smile. Naomi – 3, you have verve, but need to control your pitch. The audience gives Lorelei 17 points for a total of 35 and TMarie gets 13 points for a total of 27. Lorelei will come back tomorrow night. On to the Model category and even Arsenio acknowledges the pointlessness of it, but it continues. Alicia Hall with her hair to her waist and wearing a black teddy-like thing walks out confidently. Naomi – 3, shazam Tye no last name comes out and seems a bit off. She is a single mom and cries a little when she talks about people who question her motives of leaving her son to go out of town. She has really bad hair (see the top of this article). Naomi – 2, needs a little gravy, some fat pudding. The audience gives 15 points to Alicia and 13 to Tye, which means Alicia wins 31 to 26 and will join Candace and Joanna in the finals. View Printable version of this article |
