Bachelor Going 0-2by C. Brian Devinney -- 02/05/2003
View Printable version of this article It seems like the only success related to the ABC series The Bachelor is in its ratings. The second Bachelor break-up was confirmed this week as Missouri banker Aaron Buerge and New Jersey school psychologist Helene Eksterowicz have amicably parted ways since their coupling was formalized in the finale of the second edition of the ABC reality series. First edition couple Alex Michel and Amanda Marsh have been the subject of numerous reports involving the dissolution of their relationship, especially as Michel has since moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an actor and Marsh remains in Kansas where she now hosts her own radio program. The exact cause for Aaron and Helene's split is not known. However, the New York Post hints that it may have something to do with Buerge not appearing at a birthday party for his fiancé held earlier this year. Although Buerge claims that Eksterowicz was aware of his inability to attend, rumors have been swirling around the pair since their first public appearance as a couple on Good Morning America following the show's finale. Reports from the couple's appearance included a statement from Eksterowicz that she was afraid she would ultimately be emotionally hurt by Buerge. Last November over twenty million viewers watched as Buerge opted for Eksterowicz over college student Brooke Smith, who also appeared with the couple on Good Morning America, confessing to still being in love with show's title character. Perhaps now she has a second chance. The upcoming edition of The Bachelor is heavily rumored to be helmed by a member of "the rich and famous." Sources close to RealityNewsOnline have hinted that a member of the Firestone family, famous for their tires, has been cast in the leading role. This, however, has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Trista has a chance to become the first success story of the series, as she has been quoted as saying she did indeed find true love on The Bachelorette, which wraps up in a few weeks.
