Survivor: The Amazon – Advice for the Remaining 13

by Jeffrey Clinard -- 02/28/2003
The women are finally bringing it all together – and seriously kicking male butt at the same time. What advice does our Survivor Advisor have for each tribe and each individual within that tribe?

Thirteen Survivors, all there for nine days
Take my advice and your torch will still blaze...

The game continues to play out, and factions are becoming more apparent. The thirteen remaining players need to take a close look at what they can do to get to the million dollar prize. This is where the Survivor Advisor comes in, with more advice for the tribes and the individual players.

Jaburu

Well done in finally getting your act together and making a decent camp. You are also fishing well and winning challenges. Much of the contrast of the last episode (men's camp vs. women's camp) has been reversed now, with you looking strong and focused. You even found your flint! Your only real problems are leftovers from your unorganized days, such as the contamination of the flour with mold. Keep up the good work.

Deena. You did well when you took the "delegate" position. Conditions in camp have improved dramatically, and I'm giving you the credit. Now you need to take the lead in another way – solidifying your political position. Your political allies are your bathing buddies, Christy and Jeanne, with possible inclusion (for now) of JoAnna. It's an alliance of necessity, since the "hotties" are doing their own separate bathing.

Christy. Many of your problems have been solved by the selection of a leader and clear delegation of camp responsibilities. This should solve your frustration with the rest of the women in trying to get organized. Now you need to get political power and protection. You obviously don't fit in with the other young women (and this is a good thing BTW; you seem to be more mature), but you've had the good sense to not sulk off and bathe separately. Even if you do feel self-conscious about bathing with other women, you've got to do it to join with Deena and Jeanne to create a political power base.

Jeanne. Well done in getting a camp leader appointed. This was exactly the kind of shot in the arm the camp needed, and you managed to get it accomplished without putting your own neck on the line. Like the rest of the players, your next project should be getting the political power base needed to progress in the game, and your natural allies are Christy and Deena. Get to work on that aspect of the game.

JoAnna. You are in an odd position in the game. Two sets of bathing beauties have emerged – and you aren't in either one of them. I guess you do your bathing solo – and that's not a good thing. More than anything else you're going to need political protection, and that means I'd advise you to put aside your feelings about Christy and ally with her and the other older women in the camp.

Shawna, Jenna, and Heidi. I'm going to point out a few basic truths. You obviously have bonded together and have the core group of an alliance. It's a natural alliance given your youth, looks, and mental outlook. The trouble is, the rest of the women in the tribe can see you three have a thing going. The men might like you three, but they aren't the ones you have to face at tribal council. You're collectively betting $1,000,000 that the other women can't count to four. That's a bet I wouldn't make, but you might try to use the past problems JoAnna has had with Christy to try and vote her out next.

Shawna. From the previews, it looks like you want to call it quits. That's inviting the rest of the tribe to write your name down at the next tribal council. If you really can't take it anymore, that's your choice, and there is no advice I can give you to help you win the big money.

Jenna. Having selected your alliance of bathing beauties, you're stuck with it. If Shawna really can't take it anymore, then you and Heidi are going to have to try and salvage the situation. The salvage will come at mid-game, when the tribes merge. The younger men are attracted to the three of you. That can work in your favor at that time.

Heidi. Like Jenna, you've starting digging a political grave by psychologically separating your group from the other women. This was a mistake, but you also can salvage the situation at mid-game.

Tambaqui

First, a suggestion. Don't pull stunts like putting your tribes colors on the immunity idol again. Your tribe is having to eat a lot of crow, and the dish would have been smaller if you didn't put your tribal feathers on the idol.

Second, the women are starting to really kick your tails. They've won four of the five challenges, and now their camp is starting to click together. They are catching more and larger fish as well. You guys probably do need to spend more time fishing. The nice thing about that is you can daydream as much as you want about the young women of Jaburu while you do so.

Roger. You need to seriously consider why you have been a target at tribal council. Daniel told you the truth – you are barking out orders like a drill sergeant and it's not appreciated. While you might have political protection for now, you are shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to the ultimate prize. Frankly, it's going to be in everybody's best interest to keep you around till the end because you would be a great person to be standing against at the final tribal council.

Butch. You've obviously selected your allies, and seem to have a good position in the game. Roger can continue to take the heat and you can tailgate on the political power.

Alex. You accurately assessed your position as the swing vote at tribal council. Now you have declared your position, and need to stick with the older male alliance. This will carry you for at least another vote in the game.

Rob. Last time I warned you to be careful about leading a coup against Roger. Well, you were careful enough, but the vice of situation is that you've declared your position and are stuck with it. That means you are vulnerable at the next tribal council. You have one more chance to try and pull off your coup, and here's how. You need to recruit Dave and Matthew and force a tie. Then hope for the best from that situation.

Matthew. Your ability to progress in the game depends a lot on whether Dave can be pulled into an alliance with Rob and yourself. If you return to tribal council, the three of you can force a tie with the elder male alliance and take your chances from there on out. Otherwise it's time to start looking to the mid-game and finding outcasts from the female tribe to bond with in a counter-alliance.

Dave. You've assessed the situation correctly – there is a LOT of plotting and scheming going on, and you aren't a part of it. This should be setting warning buzzers off in your head. You have to decide what your position is NOW. If you are "in" with Roger, Alex, and Butch, then you need to stick with them. However, if your vote was just coincidental to theirs, then you have to make your move now and ally with Rob and Matthew before it's too late.
