Surviving the Amazon, Episode 5: All Shook Up!Page 3View Printable version of this article So off to Tribal Council we go. Probst again asks for reactions. Jeanne says she was excited for the change (read: they were gonna vote me off over there!). The guys have been gentlemen and have welcomed them. Heidi is asked what she feels about old Jaburu. She says there are no hard feelings - she adores Jenna and loves 'em all. Probst asks Christy how she has assimilated. She says the guys have handled it so much better than the girls. They try their best to accommodate her and she is very impressed. Yes, that was another slap - albeit possibly unintentional - against Heidi and Jeanne. Continuing with Christy, Probst asks what the vote will be based on. She says alliances. Old or new? Well, they've only known each other for a day and a half, so it's a hard decision. Probst asks Roger how he will vote. Roger says it's a new day and it'll be the weakest link. So old alliances are out the window? Exactly. Yeah, sure, but remember that Roger mouthed off early that the women were all weaker, so to him "woman" may well equal "weakest." Jeanne says that it's both weakest link and alliances. What, she doesn't reveal the secret "straw" method of determining the weakest link? Then we get to Heidi. She says there are so many things. There is the whole girls against the guys thing but they're also a team. It's killing her. Her head is spinning! Must be all that helium between her ears making her light-headed. So they go to the vote. We see every vote except for Heidi's, and everybody else votes the way we knew they would - guys for Jeanne, women for Butch. At this point I look at the clock and realize there isn't time for a tiebreaker, so I know which way Heidi voted. But Jeff Probst makes it official - two votes for Butch, four for Jeanne. Jeanne is gone. (And let me just say that if Butch were the one who ended up getting booted, it would have been a short "Why Butch Lost" article: "Because they drew his straw.") Probst sends them off saying the question is if tonight's vote was on old gender lines or focused on the weakest link in a new big happy tribe. In her last words, Jeanne makes it quite clear that she's a bit annoyed. She says she wasn't made to play this game. She didn't want to lie or cheat, and now she's off because of those very things. (Well, one might question the whole "lying" thing when it came to that granola bar you attributed to Janet… And you tried to trap Deena into a leadership position that you thought would make her rub the others the wrong way… Anyway…) She says she's tough and mean, but not a nasty liar. But in the game of life, she's the winner. That may be, but in the game of Survivor, she's not. Next week, on a special Wednesday edition of the show (oh, great, up against the American Idol results show), Tambaqui has a tender moment that causes Christy to smile. Awww. And Shawna's recovery is sparked by Alex - is romance in the air? Awww. Okay, too much awwwwing for me. I think it's time to go.
