WWE Tough Enough March 21 Update: Photos from Matt's Match, the Future of 'Tough Enough,' and More!by Mike DeGeorge -- 03/21/2003
View Printable version of this article According to the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter, MTV may not decide until as late as May if there will be a Tough Enough 4. WWE will be moving Sunday Night Heat from MTV to TNN, and word is that MTV is trying to get away from wrestling. I don't know, I guess it's too sophisticated for TRL fans. My hatred of MTV notwithstanding, there is still a chance to convince MTV to renew the show. I did find out from MTV that Jennifer DeGuzman was a publicist for past seasons, but keep in mind that I am NOT encouraging everyone to call her and let her know that you want to see TE4. If you were to search for her name on Google and find that you could call her at 212-258-7175 or email her at jennifer.deguzman@mtvstaff.com of your own accord, I couldn't stop you, of course. Maybe next time they'll return my calls. Even if MTV decides to pass on TE4, I don't see why they couldn't give the show to TNN. That's assuming, of course, that WWE is still interested in the show. There was, from what I saw, almost unprecedented interest in the show after the third season. I'm not sure if they lost out. I will be here, as always, to keep you updated on a possible fourth season, so keep an eye on RealityNewsOnline! As I reported a few weeks ago, Matt faced Rico at a WWE house show in Rochester. As promised, Matt has sent me some great pictures from the event! Check them out! ![]() Smackdown was taped in Louisville, KY (not coincidentally, the home of OVW) last week. RNO writer and author of You Never Can Tell: Urban Legends of Rock 'n' Roll (thumbs up, cheap pop) Dale Sherman was in attendance. Kanyon wrestled a dark match against Sean O'Haire at the tapings, and he was accompanied by TE2 winner Jackie Gayda. When Kanyon is brought up to the WWE (which could be any time… he was in OVW recuperating from injuries), Jackie might be coming with him. If you're interested in the match, O'Haire beat Kanyon with a Razor's Edge-type powerbomb. Jackie was not a factor at all. Dale tells me that people very close to their seats (some might say sitting in their seats, if you want to split hairs) were trying to start a "Hot Tub Ho" chant during the match, the chant that normally accompanies Jackie at OVW events. A reader, Lisa, emailed me to let me know of her Jonah Adelman tribute site at http://www.among-the-stars.com/jonah. In all honesty, I haven't been able to access the site, but I've included it here in case you can! [Editor's Note: It's currently giving a message indicating it's exceeded its bandwidth limit.] I also mentioned before that Paulina was supposed to be wrestling for Rocky Mountain Championship Wrestling on March 11, but… well, let me quote from www.rmcw.com: "Womens Champion Morgan defeated Kay-O, (wrestling her first match ever in place of Tough Enough 1's Paulina, who felt that the contest was beneath her) in a great display of true women's wrestling." I have no idea what the story is there. Finally, a loyal reader sent some interesting information from the Hardy Boyz new book. As you'll recall, Matt and Jeff Hardy were guest trainers in Episode 7 of TE1. The producers apparently wanted them to take bumps from a ladder, and Matt nixed the idea. They did demonstrate some moves in the ring, but they were not shown in the episode. Matt felt the contestants haven't paid their dues and most didn't really want to be wrestlers, just stars. That much has been proven by a few past contestants. Matt would structure the show so it follows the contestants training and working Indy shows for little money, living in tiny apartments and driving for hours to get to a show. While that might be a little more realistic, it would be pretty boring. Make sure to contact Mike DeGeorge at mikmaria@earthlink.net if you have any Tough Enough news.
