Sorority Life 2, Episode 12: This Kissby Jen Shrader -- 05/26/2003
View Printable version of this article Previously, Nicole and Tim have been together for two months and haven't kissed. Nicole starts listening to Brooke and realizes Tim is making her look bad. In desperation, Nicole offers girl-on-girl action to Tim at their semi-formal. At the sorority house, the girls discuss their "date party," which will be in exotic Canada. Everyone is excited about getting dressed up, even though Talia admonishes that it's "not a formal." Sister Courtney's done the planning and gets this weird, far off smile on her face as she tells the girls about the "little hot dogs" on the menu. Calm down, Courtney. But Courtney's still looking for a DJ for the big event, which prompts Julia to offer up Wagner's little brother, who is "butt cheap and really good." Ironic, since that's the same reason Wagner's attracted to Julia. The sisters just look at her like they'd rather have the rappin granny from the "Wedding Singer" movie. But Brooke's having her own issues: No dress and no date. Julia, ever eager to help this week, offers another member of her posse, David, to go with her. David is cute, dresses nice, and is an aerospace engineering major. And eternally embarrassed after watching the show this week. Brooke interviews that UB is slim pickins for boys. She calls Sean, her ex, but he's involved in some kind of team sport and can't go. It doesn't really bother her except people are making her feel like she needs a date. But before we can explore Brooke's options, it's back to Nicole and Tim. We're up to two months of dating now and no kiss. Nicole is concerned Tim won't be done with pledging in time to take her to the event, since Tim has been admonished not to see Nicole until after his pledging was over. Brittany interviews it's pathetic Nicole wants to take him after the things he's done to her and the pledge class. For review, that was: Leading the pranks against the sisters, including stealing a paddle and other items from the house and leaving pepperoni in the beds, and asking Brooke on a date and not Nicole. MacKenzie interviews that if Tim comes to the event no one will talk to him. She tries to hook Nicole up with her single friend Mike, while the group is in a hot tub. Mike's a nice enough guy but he's got no game and Nicole's so full of thoughts of Tim that nothing happens. She says she feels like Mike was forced on her. Funny, cause that's how Tim feels about Nicole! But her delusions must be fed, so Tim calls and says he's done pledging and can go to the date party. Then he asks if the sisters still have issues with him. Nicole says Maggie likes him. Maggie says he's shady. Nicole says MacKenzie likes him. MacKenzie says she doesn't. Nicole says the sisters don't have a problem with him. Talia: "He sucks." Nicole finally gives up and says the people who matter to her (not her precious sorority sisters?) like him, and even Brooke walks by and gives Nicole a look like she just broke into Brittany's pot stash. Nicole and Tim go to dinner at a steakhouse. Too many bad memories at Applebee's, I guess. Nicole says he's been more attentive. So now it's time to play matchmaker for Brooke, who they're trying to hook up with Tim's fraternity brother, Jarrau. Brooke decides to meet the three for drinks and says she hopes it works out because she spent a lot of money on a dress. Jarrau spends the date talking about other hot girls. Not really a turn-on for Brooke. In their respective bathrooms, the girls and guys discuss the potential hook-up. Nicole thinks Brooke should go for it. Because she goes for anything that gives her the slightest bit of attention. Jarrau says Brooke is "smokin," but "weird." The next night Tim urges Brooke to call Jarrau, and she says the whole thing is turning into a headache. Tim jokes and says he told Jarrau that Brooke is confusing and doesn't like any boys. Brooke says, "Just because I said no to you!" Score one for Brooke! Brooke says she doesn't like Jarrau enough to call him and she's disappointed this is what the world has come to. Sing it, girlfriend. It turns out Maggie is also dateless. Brooke says she doesn't mind not having a date but, "what happens during the slow songs?" It's the big day and the sisters get their hair done. Nicole's hair goes through about eight incarnations before she finally comes back to the pledge house and announces she hates it. It looks nice, actually. Everyone's in their finery and Maggie says she feels like she's dressed up for Brooke. Brooke jokes that Maggie is her date. Poor Brooke. Tim, meanwhile, is 20 minutes late. He brings two roses and knocks on the door forever before someone lets him in. Nicole admits she's nervous for that long-awaited kiss. Everyone gets on the bus to Canada and no one's talking to Tim. He interviews he knows 85 percent of the girls hate him. This is affirmed when Nicole introduces him to Courtney in the buffet line and she just says "Hi." and goes on. Or she might just be still ogling the little hot dogs. Tim confides to Brooke that he's scoping out a place to kiss Nicole. As Tim and Nicole go for a walk, Brooke tells the rest of the pledge sisters what's about to happen. As grossed out as everyone is by the idea, they're happy for Nicole. And sick of hearing about how they haven't kissed. Outside on the pier, Tim has Nicole close her eyes, then hands her the two roses and kisses her. Finally. Nicole says this is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done as they sit on a bench and kiss some more. Nicole comes back inside to scream to her sisters that she finally got kissed as Bon Jovi plays in the background. I can pretty much guarantee Wagner's little brother wasn't the DJ now, and I'm happy to hear Bon Jovi on MTV, but I wonder if these girls are old enough to truly appreciate the band. No matter though because the kiss is the big topic of conversation. MacKenzie says she's glad the kiss is just done. Next week: The pledges and sisters go to New Orleans where Nicole and Brittany and Brooke fight. And I THINK the pledges are finally initiated. Jennifer Shrader traded in her boyfriend for a dog, who is always happy to see her, is properly housetrained, and doesn't drink all her liquor while she's taking a nap. She and her dog live in the Deep South, where she's a reporter for a community newspaper. Be sure to sign up for our e-mail update so you can stay informed about new articles on the site!
