Big Brother 4, July 25 Live Feed Highlights: Veto Competition May Change Everything

by Sting7, with David Bloomberg -- 07/26/2003
It’s time for the Veto competition. Will the exes or the original 7 win it? Will somebody be saved or will the track record of leaving nominations alone continue? Why did Dana (right) side with the exes? Catch up on the highlights as the HouseGuests scheme and plot their way through another day. This article obviously contains spoiler information.

Friday morning, it’s wakey-wakey as Big Brother says it's time to get up for the day. No one exactly springs to their feet! Jack and Erika have their traditional post wake-up chat. Jack says he realizes that Dana spent for more time with the Exes than with the 7, no wonder she sided with them. Erika says it's all about Justin. Dana is wildly attracted to him and she wouldn't turn on Justin no matter what. Jack notes that everyone figures sitting to next to Dana in the finals equals a win (uh oh, that’s what everybody thought about Will in BB2). And why were they thinking of keeping Jee? Enough negative talk, says Erika. Jack says he knows what needs to happen. They just have to do it. He's just critiquing himself. Erika said Dana wasn't going to put up Justin, ever. She was not changing her mind, take it from a woman. Dave joins the conversation.

Jack says he and Dave had a discussion with Nate/Ali. Jack says Ali isn't falling apart over the nomination like Michelle was. She's still thinking. They too see the need to get rid of Justin.

Or do they? Jun says to Nate/Ali that the plan with Team Exes is to go after Dave next, not Nate. Oh, here comes Dana. Shhh! Dana explains the rules for the Power of Veto contest. They all grab colored, numbered balls. They have to say their name and the number of the ball they drew:

Dana 2
Erika 4
Robert 7
Jun 8
Justin 5
Jee 3
Dave 9
Jack 1
Alison 6
Nate 10

We don't get to see it, but Nathan wins! Alison is VERY pleased. He had told her earlier that if he won, he would take her off the block. Jun appears to have been wounded in battle as she looks like she has a black eye and is putting ice on it. Alison may have hurt her thigh also. Tough challenge!

Apparently, Jun told Jack that the Exes will put up Dave if Nathan pulls Alison (at some point, Dana mentioned this and called Dave the brains of the operation). And, Jack tells Dave. Dave tells Erika/Jack that he found out Nate was meant to be put up if the veto saved Jack or Alison, but Nate won it. Jack says that Dana is doing Justin's bidding. He doesn't even have to win HOH to be HOH. Erika notes that Justin and Dana were talking and Dana was obviously sent out to talk to Erika. If they are that transparent, maybe Justin isn't as formidable as they thought.

Jack laments that if you play the competitions and win, you are supposedly a target, but when you don't win anything, you get nominated! (Seems sort of backwards, doesn't it?) They talk about Huey, Duey, and Louie (Jee/Justin/Robert – aka HDL) always seeming to slip up when they get overconfident. Jack says Jee is still shocked over Michelle. He's extremely gun-shy anymore. Jack feels bad about losing Alison. Erika says her naked hatred of Dana was her downfall, but she's young (counting chickens, ain't ya?). Jack says Alison is smart and emotionally tough. She just showed her hand a little. Jack really wants to win a competition. Erika tells him he will eventually. Jack was really banking on winning the POV competition (Jack seems like the type who hates having his destiny in someone else's hands).

Nate announces his impending death has been postponed. He has meat again and he already feels stronger!

Jack and Erika discuss possible nominations. They are thinking that if one of them wins HOH next week, they can put up Jun and Justin (not the pawn thing again!). That would shake up both groups. In come Ali and Dave. Jack says they are discussing nominations. Ali suggests Jun/Justin (heh!). Jack says if no one takes off Justin, then he goes, but if he gets saved, then Dana goes up. Alison wonders if Dana has started throwing competitions (has she said something?). Jack says he's been working all day on combinations.

Alison speculates that one of the competitions will eventually involve remembering the other competitions. Remember the color of the parachutes and so on. (The shirts used by the top four in the POV were snagged by Big Brother, then mysteriously returned. This is why they are betting HOH competition will have to do colors and numbers.) Jack tells Alison she is good with numbers in the competitions. She's a good player. Erika adds it's really pissing her off! (Hee!) Alison says she doesn't want to leave, but she can rest knowing Dana won't win. Jack says he tried to sway Dana with that argument, but it didn't work.

Robert insists the game has turned in their favor, but they need HOH next week. Dana says they are due.

Nate tells Alison that HDL have been hounding him to see if he will use POV. He's leaning towards using it. But, he says it's a no-win situation. He's considering telling Jack "it's for the best," he thinks he'll understand. He also thinks Erika would want Ali to stay.
