Big Brother 4, August 1-3 Live Feed Highlights: New Alliances?by Paris Cosby, with David Bloomberg -- 08/05/2003
View Printable version of this article We pick up where we left off Friday night, and Dana is seriously campaigning to stay in the game. Nathan comments that "this is her life, she's always wanted to do this." But he says she can't go around and abuse people the way she does and expect to stay. Robert has a strong feeling that Dana is going to ask him to use the Power of Veto on her. That doesn't come as any sort of shock to me. I don't think he's going to use it as it seems that he, Jee and Justin have decided to vote Dana out of the house. But, as we've seen countless times before, anything can happen and things can change at the drop of a hat in the Big Brother house. Dana thinks there should be a twist thrown in to save her because she is one of the most interesting people on the show. “Interesting” is the wrong word choice for that statement. “Annoying” fits better, I think. There is a bit of conversation between Jack and Erika. Apparently, Nathan and Jun are having some issues with each other and, although Jack didn't hear it with his own ears, he believes Jun thinks Nathan is a racist. As Justin and Dana settle in for the night, they seem to be doing some heavy playing under the covers. This group this year, I'm telling you! It's all just before they get thrown out too. It's pretty funny actually. The live feed posters report that they are kissing and that "they are doing some serious hand work under the covers." Jee enters and breaks up the fun – for now anyway. A little later they're at it again. And what about Jee? One poster says he believes Jee was "taking care of himself under the covers." Yeesh. Moving on to Saturday, it is the 4th anniversary of Jee's dad's death. He's upset about that and wanted to do a ceremony later at night. Big Brother agreed and told Jee he could do that in the backyard. Apparently, his family has a ceremony each year and this year, he's in the house. His family did send the things that he would need for the ceremony. He will perform it alone in the backyard. Robert is very compassionate through all of this and says he will make sure the door is locked and that no one disturbs him. As the day moves on, Jee decides that anyone who wants to watch the ceremony can. BB has also told him that he can't taste the food or drink during the ritual (Jee is on PB&J this week). This ticks Jun off because it's part of the ceremony. I think they should let him eat and drink for it. It's a religious ceremony and is part of the ritual. While Jee is getting ready, Alison (being a selfish brat) is crying in the HOH room because it is her boyfriend Donny's birthday on the east coast. I think Jee's dad's death overrides Donny's birthday in a time zone three hours away! (Especially when he may have dumped her already because of her behavior in the house!) Jee begins his ceremony and it includes a plate of peeled apples and a plate of peeled oranges, a bottle of wine, and three sticks of incense. He performs his ritual... bowing, praying, etc. After approximately 20 minutes, he takes the incense out of the bowl and lays them on the table and is finished. All the other HouseGuests, minus Alison, seem to feel for Jee and respect his ceremony. Alison continues on saying Donny was probably cheating on her the moment she stepped on the plane. What kind of relationship do these two have? Although, after this show and Alison's behavior, I would guess little-to-no relationship. Or more likely she is just trying to rationalize her own behavior by saying that what she did is okay because he was probably already cheating on her. Nice try, Alison. Jee, Robert, and Justin are trying to work on Ali now and get her into an alliance with them. They promise her that Robert will not use the Veto and tell her they are after Nathan. Nathan first, then Jack, then Erika, and finally, Jun. Alison says Jun needs to go first. She also adds that if one of them wins HOH that she will vote the way they want her to. Justin says the three of them and Alison working together starts the minute Dana is out the door. It'll be interesting to see what happens with that! I think it's a smart move on Alison's part but if she gets to the end, she won't win because she will have betrayed the other HouseGuests, plus, even if everybody is being completely honest, she is becoming the fourth person in a four-person alliance – never a really good position to be in. Apparently, Justin did mention his conversation with Alison regarding Nathan being gay because Robert, Dana, and Jun are joking about it. Jee says he wouldn't go that far but that he does think Nathan is a racist. They all seem to agree on this. Although, that being said, they are saying everyone from Oklahoma is racist. That statement in itself is racist (or state-ist) and derogatory. Anyway... The rest of the night is fairly lighthearted and Jee takes a lot of harassment from the other HouseGuests. It's all in good fun, nothing nasty or anything. Dana has trouble sleeping and tosses and turns her way through the night. Most likely because she'll find out for sure tomorrow whether or not Robert will use his Veto or not. In the morning, Dana says she's over her anger now. Yeah, right. Give her a minute, it’ll be back. And Robert jokes that maybe he should say he changed his mind overnight and decided to use the Veto after all. Around 12:30 pm, Robert comes in wearing the Veto. I guess it's time for the meeting. The live feeds all focus on the backyard and the audio shuts down so we don't get to see or even hear the Veto meeting. However, when the feeds return, we find out that Robert did not use his Veto. Dana seems fairly calm about the whole thing but I would imagine the fireworks will start soon enough.
