Temptation Island 3 – A Preview

Well, it’s that time again, the time we’ve all been dreading. Yes, Fox has become desperate enough to put Temptation Island 3 on the air. Anyone who followed my recaps of TI2 knows this is something of a worst-case scenario for me. But for you, the reader, I’ll make the supreme sacrifice. I’ll watch and recap Temptation Island 3. Feel free to ease my suffering by buying something from my Amazon Wish List.

I’m not alone in my suffering: host Mark L. Walberg (who is NOT the actor Mark Wahlberg from Boogie Nights, it should be noted) returns for a third season as host. The poor guy, I hope they pay well. Seriously, Mark has always been one of the better parts of this show – sort of an island of normalcy in the ocean of idiocy.

For those of you who have been intelligent enough never to watch the show, it features four couples who are “stranded” in an exotic location – this time the Bay Islands off the Caribbean coast – and are separated for the duration of the show. The four separated couples are then joined by fourteen singles of the opposite sex, whose job is to tempt them. It’s supposedly the ultimate test for a relationship, but I’ve always been of the opinion that if you have to ask the questions, you already know the answers.

The four couples are:

• Anthony, a sales manager, and Stephanie, a hairstylist/model, from Chicago, IL, have been dating three years.
• Michael, a bartender/model, and Melissa, a promoter/model/former Miss New York, from Long Island, NY, have been dating two years.
• Jason, a massage therapist, and Kara, a receptionist, from Las Vegas, NV, have been dating one year.
• Finally, we have Eric Hurt and Kristin Cobb, formerly from Farmville, VA. They have been dating three and one half years and have recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles. I see myself cutting them a little more slack than other couples on the show, since it seems that they went on Temptation Island to forward their careers. Assuming that is why they went on the show, this is truly the smart way to go about it, unlike couples like Tommy and Nikkole last year, who seemed to only go on the show to make asses of themselves.

The singles have also been introduced (and all of their photos are on the Fox website). First, the women:

• Tiffany, 23, an administrative assistant from Boca Raton, FL.
• Ida, 24, an actress/model from Toronto
• Kelly Anne, 24, a retail manager from Los Angeles
• Amy, 23, a teacher from Elkview, WV
• Tanaya, 26, who works in promotions in Pasadena, CA
• Corie, 30, a respiratory therapist from Las Vegas
• Eve, 27, a stuntwoman from Minneapolis
• Kristin, 22, a model from Kansas City, MO
• Sandra, 23, a dance instructor from Los Angeles
• Maria, 25, an actress/model from Miami
• Ashley, 22, a fitness saleswoman from Rock Hill, SC
• Melanie, 23, a waitress from Los Angeles
• Erryn, 21, a waitress from Kansas City, MO
• Kaileen, 25, a graphic designer from Diamond Bar, CA

And the men:

• Chris, 27, a graduate student from Nashville
• Jeffrey, 23, a small-business owner from New York City
• Derrick, 21, a construction worker/model from Big Lake, MN
• Giulio, 29, a perioperative assistant from Queens
• Ryan J, 22, a surf photographer from Los Alamitos, CA
• Mike, 29, an equity trainer from Hoboken, N.J
• Scott, 24, a police academy employee from Hollywood
• Jon, 25, a professional in-like skater from Minneapolis
• Ryan M, 23, a business management consultant from Santa Monica, CA
• Sterling, 25, a sales rep/model from Nashville, Tenn
• Ian, 23, a public relations manager from New Orleans
• Jerome, 26, a bartender/promoter from Fort Lauderdale
• Keith, 28, a construction worker from Kansas City, KS
• Ryan S, 26, a marketing associate from West Bloomfield, MI

As always, information on these people is nearly impossible to come by, so I will be waiting until the show actually starts to rip these people apart. I am looking forward to it, as I hope you are too. The first episode of Temptation Island 3 airs Thursday, August 28th at 9PM Eastern, and you can usually come here on Fridays for my recaps.
