Background Information Found on New Survivor Contestant Tijuana Bradleyby David Bloomberg -- 08/29/2003
View Printable version of this article If somebody were to look for information on former “pharmaceutical sales representative” and now Survivor: Pearl Islands contestant Tijuana Bradley, they might begin to wonder just what kind of “pharmaceuticals” she was selling! Why? Because RealityNewsOnline discovered a page on the website of her alma mater, St. Louis University (SLU), in which she submitted a number of articles related to illicit drugs. But before we jump to any conclusions, let’s take a closer look. In fact, Tijuana appears to have been employed by Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc., in St. Louis. (They are, it might be noted, a sponsor of the American Society of Pain Management Nurses.) The website in question, http://www.slu.edu/classes/ancham/drugs1_refs.html, appears to be related to a class she took at SLU from Professor A. Michael Anch in the Psychology Department. It appears to have been a class on drugs and behavior. The papers submitted by Tijuana included those described as “A handy description and background of legal and illicit drugs,” “DARE's failure to influence teens from drugs,” “A thorough insight of current topics and articles related to marijuana's therapuetic (sic) effects,” and others. A number of the links point to sites like NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) or freespeech.org, but none of the links seems to be active anymore. They all either point to pages that are no longer there or to general websites rather than directly to the articles themselves. Tijuana’s official CBS bio notes that she was born and raised in the St. Louis area, Webster Groves to be specific. In fact, she was Miss Webster ten years ago. What it doesn’t say is that she was also the contact person for the Class of 1994 reunion – though it’s unclear exactly when the reunion was/is scheduled. One of her favorite hobbies listed is fishing, so she has some outdoors experience. And she is used to working with people through Big Brother/Big Sister and other volunteer efforts. However, it is curious to me that she chose to leave her pharmaceutical job and go to work as a waitress – unless, of course, she had to leave her job because they wouldn’t give her time off to go on Survivor. If that’s the case, well, then who can blame her?! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out what we found out about her tribemate, Andrew Savage.
