For Love or Money 2, Episode 7: Margaritas, Massages, and More!by Betsy Wasser, with Kelly Ford -- 08/29/2003
View Printable version of this article If you’re wondering why this recap is late, I’ve got two good reasons, one fun, one not. The not-fun reason was that my computer was on the fritz. Happily, I’ve worked that out. The fun reason was that Kelly was out of town attending the For Love or Money reunion and wasn’t able to contact me right away. I asked Kelly if she was able to tell which guy Erin picked, and unfortunately, she said, “I plead the fifth!” Oh, well – it was worth a shot. Next week we’ll not only have recaps of that reunion show and the finale, but also Kelly’s insights into that reunion. Last week on For Love or Money 2, Rob joined Wade, Chad, and Eric to compete for Erin’s heart. The other guys were none too pleased. Chad won a competition to choose which guy went on which date with Erin and was happy to stick his rival, Eric, with “Pottery Painting.” Erin finally had a chance to talk to Rob about why he decided to come back. He swore up and down that it was because he cared about her and wanted to see her again, but Erin wasn’t too sure. Nevertheless, she decided to keep him around, and sent Eric packing. Kelly notices that the “previously” footage includes a shot of Vic “holding a twenty dollar bill and drooling over it. It’s not a fifty, or even a hundred, but a twenty dollar bill. I think we all start to lose our minds at some point in the house. We are under lock and key every single day and are only able to see the ‘real world’ when we are granted the pleasure of a date… You will resort to anything to kill time, even if it is daydreaming over how you would spend twenty bucks.” So, now we know – Vic wasn’t money hungry, just bored! The final three guys all get to go on overnight dates with Erin. Kelly says that the overnight dates are crucial. She recalls that after her overnight date with Rob, she knew without a doubt that she would be the next one to go. Let’s see what happens to the guys on their dates. Chad’s date is first. He and Erin are very excited to go on their first trip together. They hop a private jet to Puerto Vallarta. Kelly says, “I’d like to know who gets to decide which contestant gets to go on which date.” Imagine the power! Erin says in an interview that she wishes she knew Chad’s motives. Chad says that he wants to tell Erin about the money. The house in Mexico is absolutely beautiful. It’s all open air and has an incredible view of the ocean. A happy Chad says, “Erin makes me feel at ease.” They enjoy margaritas by the ocean and are very affectionate. In an interview, Erin admits that she’s scared, saying, “I am falling for him.” Chad wonders if fate led them to each other. He thinks he might be falling in love with her. Back at the mansion, Wade and Rob hang out and talk. Rob says it’s weird to hide who he is and how he knows Erin. Wade wonders exactly that. Rob won’t tell him anything about his past with Erin, and that makes Wade suspicious. Erin and Chad enjoy a romantic dinner. Chad notices that Erin is being quiet and asks her if she has something on her mind. Kelly says, “Erin obviously seemed very reserved on her end, but she had a lot on her platter.” Chad asks her if she has any questions about him. She tells him that she feels like she knows him. I think this scene is very interesting, and telling about the relationship that Chad and Erin are developing. Erin is never as distracted by the money as she is with Chad, so I think she cares about him the most. And Chad is so in tune with Erin that he can tell there’s something amiss. When Chad finds out about the twist, I think knowing that Erin has struggled with this secret as well will make it easier for him to deal with it. Kelly agrees, and says, “It’s obvious that she’s taking it seriously.” Chad and Erin head down to the pool. They strip down to their swimwear and float around in the water kissing. It’s very, very romantic. Kelly thinks the person who chose Chad for the trip to Mexico was hoping something like that would happen. She says, “They must have prepared themselves for the steamy water scene that they’d get.” On the outside, Chad and Erin are all romance, but on the inside they still feel the turmoil of their situation. Chad says in an interview, “Right now we’re on a foundation based on pure deception.” Erin worries again about Chad’s motives. She also wonders what he’ll think when he finds out about her past experience with Rob and her decision to take the money. In that case, I think it’s great that Chad had the opportunity to meet Rob. Let me set the scene for you: ERIN: I was in the same position as you are, and I chose the money over love. CHAD: That’s horrible! You disgust me! You are not the person I thought you were. We shall never speak again! ERIN: Would it make any difference if I told you that the guy was Rob? CHAD: Really? Oh, I hate that guy. In that case, never mind. Let us run away together.
