Big Brother 4, August 29: Where in the World Is Jun?Page 4View Printable version of this article Back in New York, Jun tells us from the back of her limo that her stomach is going nuts - she’s really nervous and excited! Back at the house, they’re still yakking away about how they’re as clueless as ever as they wait for the final clue. Alison tells us this veto is vital for Jee and Robert’s survival; Jee concurs in a separate confessional. The final clue is an actual space suit from Apollo 11. Still not ringing any bells. “It’s the veto competition FROM HELL!” a frustrated Erika tells us. Everyone agrees with Robert that the three clues seem completely random and separate. “I feel like a complete and total moron right now!” declares Alison. Erika tells her she shouldn’t. Erika, hush your mouth! Suddenly, Robert jumps up and rings the bell and heads into the Diary Room. Erika and Alison huddle in the hammock and try to think of summer events in New York. In the Diary Room, Robert writes down his answer and shares it - Space Mountain at Disneyland in L.A.! BWAH!!! He seals it and puts it in the voting box that’s been set up next to the couch, then explains that the videotape meant that she’s being filmed while she’s there, and they have little caramel apples all over the park! Again - BWAH!!! Not only is this riotously offbase, but technically Disneyland’s in Anaheim, not L.A. Hell, I don’t even live in L.A. like Robert does and I know that much! Next, Jee rings the bell and heads in. He seals his envelope and puts it in the box without revealing his answer to us. Alison tells us that she’s concerned about Jee ringing the bell before her - but not Robert, because Robert’s stupid and there’s no way he got it. Heh. Suddenly, Alison remembers that the actual Video Music Award is shaped like an astronaut (to reinforce the groundbreaking nature of the channel, MTV’s original hourly station IDs were of an astronaut planting a flag on the moon); Erika confirms it. Alison rings the bell and heads in; Erika waits a little while to throw Robert, hanging out by the bell, off. “You guys have the same answer?” he asks her. “No,” she lies flatly, and heads in. Heh. The HouseGuests then sit around and speculate whether they’re correct; Alison doesn’t think Jun could be at what she guessed and neither does Robert. (Why couldn’t she be at Space Mountain?) Alison second-guesses to Erika that she has to have been wrong. They gather in the living room and watch the plasma screen, which reads “Where is Jun?” Erika and Alison cheer and Jee and Robert “D’oh!” as this turns into footage of New York. Everyone whoops and hollers as they see Jun step out of her limo at the awards and get interviewed by MTV News correspondent Gideon Yago on the red carpet. She tells Gideon she’s in utter shock and disbelief and never imagined she’d be getting interviewed at the VMAs. He asks her if she wants to tell the HouseGuests anything; she tells them she feels bad they can’t be there as well, but she’s HAVING A BLAST! Indeed, Jun does look to be having the time of her life - and looks great in the black dress that was provided for her. The HouseGuests laugh. The plasma screen reveals Alison to be the winner of the Golden Power of Veto; the others congratulate her. We now see Jee’s answer in black-and-white: he thought the apple represented Washington, the Apple State, the videotape possibly represented a film being shot there, but when he saw the astronaut, he knew there was no way it could connect to New York! (BWAH!) Therefore, his guess was the Space Needle in Seattle, making this about the 2,583rd time he’s been riotously clueless this episode. The HouseGuests excitedly chatter about how awesome it was that Jun got to go to the VMAs. Erika tells us that with Jun as Head of Household and Alison holding the veto, she feels safe. Alison crows to us that Jun can have all the fun she wants partying like a rock star, but SHE’S the one who holds all the power this week! Oh, cram it. She further tells us that the Dream Team’s dreams are now officially shattered and wonders, “Why am I always the one to manipulate the boys in this house?” OK - heh. Of course, it helps that said boys are idiots. Speaking of whom, Jee tells us he gives credit to Alison for winning the veto fair and square and is now preparing himself for the worst, while Robert says Alison is an emotional player and her mind changes depending on the day of the week. No, you moron, it’s that the power base changes from day to day and she follows - when it comes to the game, she’s probably the least emotional and most calculating one there! “Beautiful - MWAH!” declares Alison as she kisses the veto medallion, practically daring me to revoke the compliment I just paid her. Stock Booming Melodramatic Announcer #38 wants to know when Jun will return and who she’ll nominate! Well, maybe if they’d WAITED A DAY, we’d have the answer to that instead of a good solid half hour of “Hmmm… gosh… gee… where could Jun be?” As far as the actual twist, though, it was fun and I’m glad Jun got to go the awards as opposed to some of the others; Robert and Alison in particular would probably have become absolutely insufferable - even more so than usual, that is. In any event, this sets Tuesday’s episode up to be more action-packed than usual; while I won’t be covering that one, we’ll all see what happens then!
