Behind the Scenes at the ‘For Love or Money’ Reunion Show

by Alima Ravenscroft -- 09/08/2003
We saw the For Love or Money reunion show last week, but what went on behind the scenes? Who partied hard? Who would make good couples? And what happens when you get a bunch of single guys and girls from both shows together? Alima from the first series tells it all!

A few weeks ago, NBC called all of the For Love or Money boys and girls to come back to Los Angeles to tape a joint reunion show. For months, they've going back and forth with "yes we're going to do it," to, "no, there isn't enough interest in the show." FINALLY, they made a decision and decided to fly us all out to Hollywood.

I was actually in Vegas on a mini-vacation when I was flown to L.A. for the big event. Eric from FLoM 2 was in Vegas too, and we met face-to-face for the first time that Saturday night. He was taller than I thought he would be and he had a nice new haircut. He was definitely better-looking in person and his whole personality seemed very different than what was portrayed on TV. That night, we partied with his friends at "Studio 54" in the MGM hotel... it was a blast. I was drinking and dancing, and just having a great time. I was so sweaty, and I felt something wet on my foot. I reached down and wiped my foot, only to then find my hand covered in blood.

Eric took me to a worker at the club, and she immediately ran and got the first aid kit. I didn't feel any pain and would've been fine just going back to dancing with my bloody foot... (that's when you know you've had too much to drink), but Eric and the girl were insistent upon me receiving "medical attention." Finally the foot was cleaned up, and all there was was a tiny little cut over a vein. All that blood and it was just a teeny little cut?! Drama, drama, drama.

The next morning, Eric and I met up at the airport. Luckily, our flights were only 30 minutes apart. We hung out at his terminal for a while and had a really great conversation. Eric and I discovered our similar morals and values, and it was so great to talk to someone who had also experienced the same sort of "Reality Show" drama as me. I was sad to see that the sweet and caring side of Eric was never really shown on For Love or Money 2. At this point, I was anxious to meet the other guys... if Eric was this cool... I wondered what the other guys were like too!

Eric got on his flight to L.A., and I followed shortly after on another airline. (Leave it up to NBC to not let us fly together.) We met up at the baggage claim in Los Angeles. Were we greeted there by a limo driver in a tux with our names scribbled on a sign? Were we then whisked away in stretch limos? Nope. We were given the address of the hotel we were going to stay at, and had to take a taxi to get there. The taxi ride was long and hot (what's up with the L.A. taxi drivers being stingy on the A/C?), but I was in good company, so I was content.

You could see a few of the girls and guys pairing off. Who knows if there were any sparks, but when I saw them standing next to each other, I was impressed at how good they looked together. I'd just like to say that the NBC poll is off. In my opinion and through my observations, I thought THESE people would make great, good-looking couples: Catherine and Greg, Tracy and Dan, Christina and Vic, and yes, I have to say it... Kelly and Rob. I'd have to agree though that Munch and Cristy C. are our wild and crazy ones of the bunch, so they very well MAY make a good couple!

Eric and I arrived at the hotel, which was located on a hill and tucked away from a main street. It was beautiful and I was excited to find out that we all had our own rooms! Everyone from both shows were already there and we planned on meeting up in the lobby that night to go out for dinner with some of our FloM crew (wardrobist, producer, and casting member). We went to an Italian restaurant and took up the whole upstairs. It was so great to see all the girls and it was great to meet the guys as well.

While waiting for our food to come, I started mingling with the guys, trying to get to know them all a bit better. Munch had a big lipstick mark on his cheek from Stacey, and I thought it would be funny to cover his face in them. So, I grabbed my lipstick and started smooching. Someone took a picture, which is now on my computer as a screensaver. Cristy C. went downstairs to where the pianist was playing some jazz music and she began doing this hilarious dance on top of the piano. (That girl is so much fun to have around!)

From dinner, we went to Lucky Strikes and bowled a bit. It was a fun atmosphere, but everyone seemed to be dragging. (I think we were already exhausted for the days to come.) I think we ended up at the Sky Bar, and I was bored at that point, and thought about jumping into the pool. Eric and Tracy coaxed me out of it (thankfully).

The next day, we were driven to the studio where the reunion show would be shot. It was a LONG day of waiting and getting ready. It was a very fun and exciting experience though. The A/C wasn't working too well during the shoot, so that's why we may have all looked zoned out on the show.

I missed my flight back to Vegas, since the reunion show took longer than expected (which was just fine with me... I wanted another night with everyone). We ALL (even Erin, Rob, Chad V., and Wade) went out to some club that Thomas raved about. It was... interesting... to say the least. It was cool though because I met Trishelle from The Real World, Las Vegas. She was awesome and fun to hang out with. (There's just something about a reality TV cast member meeting another reality TV cast member. You automatically share a RARE common bond.)

Well, the night ended around 4:00 am, in Vic's hotel room. A few of us just weren't ready to go to bed yet, so we all somehow ended up in Vic's (who lost his soul, by the way) room. I slept for 45 minutes that night and took a taxi to the airport. Dan was supposed to ride with me, but he never answered his hotel room phone! It was a taxi ride from hell. Because I had only a credit card to pay with, and the taxi driver said he couldn't take it... I almost had his boss get me arrested and BARELY made my flight! It was horrible and traumatic, needless to say. I learned THREE things about L.A. cab drivers that weekend:

  1. They never turn their A/C on, no matter HOW hot it is!!
  2. They refuse to take credit cards as payments.
  3. They are not very nice.

Overall, it was a GREAT weekend with everyone. I am hoping that we can all get together again soon... maybe a ski trip in Colorado?! (That's where I live now.)

There is one guy in particular that I would really love to meet up with. I won't say who, but I'm sure you have an idea of who it may be. I have a crush on a FLoM 2 guy who is the total opposite of Rob (unfortunately, the main guy of our show): he is sweet, caring, and fun to be around. I'll let you figure it out. Until then, as Jerry Springer always says, "Take care of yourself, and each other."

Don't miss the finale of FLoM 2 this Monday night. It will be interesting what can happen in two hours – will there be love or a very wealthy woman – or both?!
