Survivor: Pearl Islands – Advice for the Remaining 13by Jeffrey Clinard -- 10/08/2003
View Printable version of this article Morgan continues to struggle as Drake remains an undefeated tribe. Can Morgan come back from such a string of defeats, or will Drake continue to dominate the game. More importantly, what should each Survivor be doing in order to win the game? Drake. It's very hard to give advice to many of you, since you haven't faced adversity yet. There is little sign of plotting, though it's kind of clear who you want to boot first. My general advice? Don't even think about throwing an immunity challenge to get rid of somebody you don't like. You can throw him out after you merge. Jon. I hate to tell you, but unless somebody gets hurt or does something really stupid, you are going to see pieces of paper with your name on it at your first tribal council. You shouldn't be naming names as to who is weak in certain challenges to the tribe, only to the camera. Sandra took offense and it caused a bit fight. Indeed, if she did reach shore sooner than you, she may have a point. So keep your mouth shut and hope somebody else does something really stupid and gets the boot first from Drake. Sandra. Don't lose your temper. You may have been right about the strong swimmer, but shouting only draws unwanted attention to yourself. People don't like to ally with people who lose their tempers and get into shouting matches. Rupert. Fantastic job in both challenges. You put the hammer down on Morgan's last boat (despite a drenching by Darrah) and won the grueling physical immunity challenge. I think you are the captain of the crew, but you need to find your alliance partners to carry you in the game. Burton. I'm not certain why you chose to sit out of the immunity challenge. You are probably stronger than Christa, who was eligible to sit out. Your biggest issue is going to be who you can trust as alliance partners. I think Shawn is one of them, but you need to find more. Shawn. Good job in the immunity challenge, being the last person besides Rupert to be pulling the weight. As with most of the rest of your tribe, you need allies, probably starting with Burton. Trish. Nice job in the reward challenge, being the first to pull a plug out. You also did well enough in the immunity challenge, though your role was small. Again, the most I can say is to find allies that will carry you through the game. Christa. It was interesting to see that your place in the immunity challenge was in the second position, behind Jon. That says something about your strength compared to his. You did well in not opening your mouth to Andrew's questions. Never give the enemy information they can use. You should be finding your allies, as should most of your tribe. Michelle. That must have been brutal for you in the immunity challenge. However, you didn't quit and the tribe knows it. Again, all I can say is find your allies. Morgan. Are you all insane? Do you think you are kidding Jeff Probst or anybody in the audience when you said you were just in a slump? All of you better hope for a win or a twist, or you're all doomed. One more immunity loss and you merge shorthanded. Maybe some of you can pull off some scheming then, but if Drake stays unified, you're jury members, at best. Darrah. Here's my advice: Win Immunity. The other four members of your tribe are allied. Hope for a change in luck or some major argument that splits up the Morgan Behinds. Osten. Face it, you blew the reward challenge. Standing up in a boat changes the center of gravity and your bulk changed the ship enough to sink it. I do give you credit for the immunity challenge – it was demanding and I wouldn't have lasted two minutes. You were simply outmatched by Rupert. You're in with Andrew, Ryan O., and Tijuana, and won't be leaving soon, but if you merge shorthanded, you're the first to walk the plank. Hope for some discord in Drake to give you a second chance at the game. Tijuana. While Osten sank the ship, you have to take some of the blame. You were paddling, and when you drifted away, it gave Drake the opportunity to gang up on Andrew's boat. What you need to do if you lose another immunity challenge and toss Darrah is try to make a deal with Osten to toss Andrew or Ryan O. Ryan O. The good news is that you are in an alliance. The bad news is it won't do you any good if you merge shorthanded. Unless Drake self-destructs, they'll pick you off one by one. Andrew. You said the magic words – "We could use a little help out here." True, it was said during the reward challenge, but it applies to your entire crew. As leader, you probably wont' go next, but you just can't afford to keep losing challenges, equipment, and members. Lillian. Why did you walk the plank? Well, you were picked as the weakest link in the immunity challenge, so the tribe did not value your strength. Andrew blamed you for the loss of the last fishing hook. (And why did your tribe only buy four of them? Didn't any of you see Survivor 2, where they lost hook after hook?) Plus, you were a loner. It's not enough to make fire, you needed to make allies.
