While Survivor: All-Stars is filming in Panama, CBS has announced that they are now looking for contestants for a ninth edition of the show.

People who are interested in being on Survivor have until January 27, 2004, to apply. Forms can be obtained in Acrobat format at the official CBS site (and you can download the Acrobat reader software as well if you don’t have it). You must send in the application and a three-minute videotape to be considered.

Alternatively, some CBS-owned stations will be holding open casting calls at which they will help make the videotape. These details have not been announced yet, so keep your eyes out for that information.

CBS has indicated that producers will interview semi-finalists that they pick from these applications and tapes, and then finalists will be flown out to L.A. “for additional interviews and extensive physical, psychological and background checks.” Those who make it through to the end will be among the 16 who appear on Survivor 9 in Fall of 2004.

Of course, the location has not yet been announced, so applicants should be ready for anything. Most important, of course, is that they should study up on What Survivors Should Have Learned.

Survivor fans should be encouraged to see this information. Some rumors had suggested that the All-Star version of the show to air beginning after the Super Bowl would be the last of the series, even with the high ratings Pearl Islands has been getting. The fact that CBS has announced a new contestant search should put that rumor to rest.

So if you are tired of just watching the show and think you can do better, now is your chance. Get in there and apply. And don’t forget to mention RealityNewsOnline when you win!
