‘Survivor: All-Stars’ Players Revealedby David Bloomberg -- 01/10/2004
View Printable version of this article The official announcement from CBS isn’t supposed to come until Monday, but the newest edition of TV Guide (January 17) seems to have jumped the gun a little bit. It not only lists the participants, but breaks them down into tribes and provides us with photos. Obviously, the information everybody has been wondering about is most important, so here are the tribes and those who are in them. As predicted by pretty much every spoiler site, there are three of them, with six people in each. The names are Chapera, Saboga, and Mogo Mogo – three islands among Panama’s Pacific Coast – and the players are: Chapera Tribe

As you can see, we have an interesting mix. Chapera has no winners among its members, while Saboga and Mogo Mogo have two. However, the battle of the Robs that is certain to ensue in Chapera may more than make up for it as brilliant plotter Rob Cesternino goes up against the blunt force of the Robfather. What will the Saboga tribe be like as Jerri meets up with her old nemesis, Tina? In the Mogo Mogo tribe, will Lex get a gut feeling that maybe Rich is Hatching an alliance? With this information just being released, we haven’t had time to really analyze it yet, but you can be sure RealityNewsOnline will begin doing just that shortly. In the meantime, the TV Guide article provides us with a bit of information. One of the challenges, probably the first, will be an improved version of “Quest for Fire,” the very first challenge ever in Survivor. And some other challenges will also be reminiscent of those we have seen before, but with new twists. Other information in the article includes that Chapera goes into Day 3 without fire, but Sue has been drinking the water and eating raw crabs anyway – will she get sick? Rob Cesternino hired a personal trainer to get in shape for two months before the game. Kathy used a corporate therapist (whatever that is) to come up with personality profiles of other contestants – this helped her figure out that she’s not going to get along with the younger women. The article also provides us with a few choice quotes. Rudy notes, “I’m gonna keep doing this until I win.” Rupert says that Survivor: Pearl Islands “empowered me with so much self-confidence, I gotta come back.” A few of the people missing are a bit surprising. Vecepia and Brian, winners of the Marquesas and Thailand versions, were simply not interesting enough to bring back, according to the article. And Colleen and Elisabeth couldn’t be convinced, although Mark Burnett tried. How hard did he try? Well, the early prize money has been increased such that the first person voted out will get $25,000 – ten times the original amount. However, despite what Burnett implied in originally announcing the All-Stars version, the winner will still get $1,000,000. The photos don’t tell us a whole lot since we also know the tribal makeups. However, it does show us one thing – Rich is going naked again. This time, though, it’s apparently during a challenge so everybody can see it all, not just his tribemates. He must be trying to outdo the Morgan tribe from last season. As I indicated above, we will have further articles looking at the details leading right up to the premiere on February 1.
