The Simple Life 2: Paris and Nicole Hit the Road

They terrorized Arkansas, stole a birdhouse (earning them aHall of Shame Moment), got fired from a myriad of jobs, threw bleach on a pool table, and kissed just about every boy in town. You’d think that would be enough for Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, the stars of the hit show The Simple Life, but you’d be wrong.

Fox has just greenlit a second season of The Simple Life. This time, the girls won’t be returning to Arkansas. Instead, Paris and Nicole will hit the road, traveling across the country from town to town.

Fox reality TV executive Mike Darnell explains it as a cross between National Lampoon’s Vacation and Road Rules (though it’s not yet clear if they’ll actually be in an RV like the Road Rules folks). Darnell points out that although Paris and Nicole have traveled all around the world, there are huge parts of the United States that they haven’t seen yet. “It’ll be interesting to see the country through their eyes,” said Darnell.

Though it hasn’t yet been determined which towns Paris and Nicole will visit, casting begins this weekend in Grand Canyon Village, Arizona; Brooksville, Florida; and Lafayette, Louisiana. Production will begin next month, with the girls spending a little less than a month on the road. When their journey is over, there should be enough footage for 8-10 episodes. The series is scheduled to air in May.

Paris and Nicole certainly left their mark on Altus, Arkansas. Is the rest of the country ready?
