by Kara Wild -- 04/26/2004
It’s the final night of the reunion, which must mean Prom Night! Who goes together? Who goes stag? And who are the prom king and queen? More importantly, who leaves with a diamond ring on her finger? And will LouAnn go home with Johnny or back to boyfriend Brad? Read on to find out!

When they have to say a television show is fresh, that usually means it is anything but. Given the number of times that word gets tossed around in the promos, I would start worrying, WB...

Previously, a recap of the entire second season of High School Reunion. LouAnn and Johnny, Trevor and Amanda, Denise and Gabe, Chris and Heather C. Whoops, just kidding about that last one (sigh). Learn what happens to them on the final episode of the season – until the final-final episode next week, when we really learn what went down.

The women all tan outside as they reflect upon it being their last night at the reunion. LouAnn remarks that everyone is a little sad to leave, because soon they will have to go back home and back to reality. Laura says that since they have only two days left, everyone is letting loose.

Stacy tells Amanda that Chris is taking her to the prom. "He asked me last night. He is so funny," she says. Maybe we'll catch it on High School Reunion: The Director's Cut. Stacy further notes that Heather C. and Daniel are going stag.

Denise states that back in high school, she and Gabe went stag, "with friends," because they were so on and off, they didn't want to ask each other. Now Denise hopes that Gabe will ask her to the prom. Did she miss the women's movement? What about asking him?

Lenny confesses that this is his first prom, so he's really nervous and doesn't know what to expect. It's okay, though – he can wipe his sweaty brow on the "gorgeous" Heather F., who will be his date.

LouAnn and Johnny are going to the prom together, which they were unable to do during LouAnn's actual senior year, since Johnny was playing football in Arkansas. LouAnn asks Johnny how he would like her to wear her hair. To her horror, Johnny replies that he has no preference; he thinks she's gorgeous no matter what. In confessional, he states that he never imagined he would fall for his former high school girlfriend so quickly.

Trev-bore wants to take Amanda, and ranks meeting her as one of the biggest moments of his life. He thinks they have this "amazing, fairytale thing happening" and hopes that they can continue to date back in the real world. Amanda believes the perfect ending to their story would be if she and Trevor spent the rest of their lives together. Preferably in a gingerbread house surrounded by a forest with talking animals.

Denise's prayers are answered as Gabe asks her to the prom! For Gabe, it's a way of saying what's past is past, including the pride that kept them apart. Denise reflects that it means a lot to her, because they went through a rough time last year, what with the divorce. Wasn't that four years ago?

Back from commercial, Laura announces that she's gone around suggesting they nominate a prom king and queen. People seem receptive to the idea. LouAnn, who was elected the last time around, doesn't think she will win this time, but still has her fingers crossed.

The men dress into their tuxes, including Daniel, who didn't have a date at the last prom. Since he doesn't have one this time, either, he has pessimistic feelings of "Here we go again." Lenny remarks that this is the first time he's worn a tux, and that it takes some getting used to.

The women primp, as Laura states that she sees prom as a way of saying that the past is in the past. Jeralyn reflects that she did have pre-conceived notions of what the others would be like coming to the reunion, but when she got together with them, realized the stereotypes they gave each other are "bull." Stacy thinks that after some of the drama (to which she contributed), the prom will give a positive sense of closure.

The women file downstairs in an elegant line of black gowns. A limo pulls up outside, revealing an even prettier-than-usual Trevor. Amanda goes to greet him and pins a flower on his lapel. They kiss and share a long embrace.

From inside, the women cheer for Lenny as Heather F. pins a flower to his lapel. Outside, Chris and Heather F. gush over his makeover into a Stepford Spouse.

Johnny shows up in a limo, and LouAnn goes out to greet him. LouAnn remarks that she is in love with him, while Johnny states that he wants to live happily ever after with her.

As she meets with Gabe, Denise reflects that if all of her dreams could come true, she would have Gabe as the man she knows "he wants to be." Whatever that means. Gabe states that tonight will be a turning point: He has to decide if he is going to take a step forward with Denise.

The students emerge from a limo and head for the prom. Once inside, Jessica makes a teasing remark about a costumed mermaid in a display. What a boring gig, playing a prom mermaid. I hope it pays well. The students seat themselves at tables and click glasses in a toast. Finally Laura jumps up to the stage and announces they will give away a few awards. This year's prom queen, "beautiful inside and out... forever may she may reign," is Daniel! A shocked Daniel runs up to the stage while LouAnn tries to bury her disappointment. Daniel feels like this puts an end to the bitterness he felt in high school and provides a sense of closure.
