For Love or Money 3, Episode 3: Love My Million, Love Me

by Sting7 -- 06/23/2004
It’s good to be Preston Emerson, knowing he has a chance at a beautiful woman or a fat check. But, it’s not good to be one of the resident bad girls, Rachel or Andrea (l-r). One has let her curiosity get the best of her, and one is letting her emotions get the best of her. Meanwhile, a contender from nowhere is stealing Pres’ heart! Will their mistakes cause them to be eliminated?

Preston Emerson has come to find the love of his life, but what started as 16 women has been narrowed to five.

Five women who all have their own separate agendas. Some want some time with Preston. Others just don’t want someone else to have more time than them.

The women have the chance to choose between Preston or a blank check valued at an amount they are not aware of (except for PJ)! It’s gamble: take a chance on Preston or a check that could be valued at $1 million. Or, Preston if can convince one of the lovelies to choose him over the money, he gets their check – whatever it’s worth!

The ladies who remain, and the value of their checks (only PJ knows the value of her own check) are as follows:

Rachel ($1)

PJ ($50,000)

Rebekah ($1)

Andrea ($500,000)

Ali ($1 million)

Rachel says the place is quiet and eerie with just five girls left. Eerie. Right on cue, here comes Jordan, strolling into the ladies’ bedroom with his JC Penney’s Casual Friday ensemble on. The ladies blink at him incredulously – no, it’s not a nightmare!

Andrea says when Jordan comes ‘round, it’s never good news. Jordan says that there will be four dates with Preston among five women. Well, maybe. Pres has the option of extending one date into the next, so one woman could end up with all four. The ladies groan. Jordan tells them Preston is on his way, so get dressed and meet him at the curb! How ladylike! Jordan wishes them a good morning, and they call him “bastard.”

PJ reasons that time with Preston means you stay on the show. Ali says she could go around the block five times with Pres and it would be better than the time they’ve spent with each other so far. Rachel says she is beginning to like Preston (yeah sure), but the money is a nice consolation prize if they don’t hit it off. Andrea is worried that Rachel has the edge because she’s had Preston to herself longer than the others.

Preston, en route, says he will find out today who really likes him, and who’s in it for the dough. He arrives at the mansion, as the ladies are artfully arrayed on the steps. He chooses Andrea for date number one, which makes her “ecstatic.” Rachel snarls inwardly. PJ thinks Andrea is clearly there for money, no interest in Preston really. Preston notices that Andrea is showing off the washboard abs, not that he minds. She knows he doesn’t mind, and may have shown them on purpose. Oh, just, maybe!

They go to a roller skating rink and seem to have a fun time. Andrea says she reigns in her emotions when she feels herself getting too caught up in Preston. Yet, she tells him he has pretty lips (you got a purdy moowwth!), which is clearly a sign that she wants to kiss him. He obliges. They are pleased. Lots of giggling on the trip home, and Andrea giggles her way out of the limo. Rachel is dying to know what happened, but she will not ask. She will not. Ali says if she isn’t picked, that will about wrap up her chances of going to the next round.

Andrea says she has no intention of telling the other women they kissed, and later delivers a PG accounting of her date.

Preston chooses Ali for date number two. Rachel says she is “thrown” by the selection. PJ thinks Ali must have a big check (she does!). Even Ali finds it strange that she was picked second, her “intuition” tells her something is up. They arrive at a movie theater with their names on a marquee. In the theater, the movie is actually a slide show of pictures of Ali growing up. Yay.

Ali finds it adorable, Preston looks like he’d rather be doing his taxes.

Ali: “Preston really got into it!”

Preston: “I just wanted to go home at that point.”

Ali thinks she shared a personal and touching date with Preston. Preston says the conversation just wasn’t happening and he wished he could hang her million dollars on someone else. But he can’t. “And that sucks.”

Preston can’t wait to get Ali out of that limo to start date number three. He picks PJ, which elicits an eye roll from Rachel. PJ says she tried to hide how excited she really was to be picked. Rachel says she lost all hope of getting a date at that point.

Preston and PJ only go down the driveway a bit to an Arabian tent, full of finger foods and pillows. They settle on the pillows, and talk, and giggle, and canoodle, and neck. Preston tells us he wishes PJ’s check was worth more, but he can see himself settling down with her. PJ says she knows he could be playing her, but that’s the chance she’s willing to take.

Rachel has officially plucked the nerves of the other women. Rebekah says her negativity can only bring negativity to her.

The limo pulls up, one more date. Only Rachel and Rebekah left (value of the two of them combined: $2). Preston makes his decision: “Rachel! We’ll do it… some other time, I choose Rebekah!” Rachel flashes him a withering grin, but Rebekah doesn’t hide her elation. In the limo, Preston is as excited as she is.

Back at the mansion, Rachel bemoans her fate. She said when they told her to take a bathing suit for the last date, she just knew it would be really romantic (nothing says romance like a bikini!). PJ tries to console the pouting thing, but she’s inconsolable. She lashes into Rebekah for gushing that she couldn’t swim, “honey, you ain’t gonna be swimming!”
