For Love or Money 4, Episode 2: A Million For Your Thoughtsby Sting7 -- 07/20/2004
View Printable version of this article Last week, Rachel the Evil, and Andrea, her nemesis, charmed 15 men to win their interest… and votes to continue in this game. Now, Andrea and her seven voters have all gone yonder, there are only eight men left to try and defrost Rachel’s alleged heart. Let’s meet them and their checks: Caleb ($1 million), Realtor, Tempe, AZ Mike ($250,000), Corporate Financial Sales, Santa Monica, CA David ($1), Sales Rep, Miami, FL Morgan ($1), Sales, Chicago, IL Rudy ($1 million), Mortgage Broker, Newburyport, MA Josh ($500,000), Real Estate Project Manager, Lake Tahoe, NV Chris ($250,000), Fitness Professional, Tempe, AZ Alex ($500,000), Industrial Engineer, Omaha, NE As the show begins, Caleb tells us everyone is still reeling from the sudden elimination of half their numbers. It’s kind of quiet around Creepy Jordan Mansion. Rudy says he’s excited about his 1 in 8 chance at a million dollars. Mike says there was some quiet discussion about the value each others checks. Josh guilelessly offered the amount of his check ($500,000), Mike says he’s not about strategy (remember that), so he in turn revealed the value of his check ($250,000). The men gather in the Event Room, where Jordan is rakishly wearing an open collared shirt today. So, instead of looking like a traditional mortician, he looks like a mortician in an open collared shirt. He tells the men that alone time with Rachel is “an important aspect” of the game (duh). And, today the opportunity is there for a date with Rachel… for one of them, only. The date will be decided with an auction, and the men will use the value of their checks to bid. The date includes a $500,000 necklace for Rachel (I doubt she gets to keep it), a limo ride to the beautiful Biltmore Hotel and a chance to look at Rachel’s ferocious smile the whole day. The bidding will start at $25,000 (which immediately knocks David and Morgan out!). Chris steps up and bids $25,000, and duels with Mike up to $100,000. Then, Alex comes in at $125,000. Mike responds with $150,000 (he tells us that a trip to the Biltmore ballroom alone is worth that. I’m sure it’s lovely, but it ain’t all that!). Alex steps in at $175,000 to Mike’s dismay. Mike gulps and bids $200,000 (his check is only $250,000, what is he doing?). Then his confidante Josh, out of nowhere, bids $225,000. Mike is really unhappy now (Mike tells us Josh knows he has twice as much money as Mike does and Josh is using it against him!). Mike bites the bullet and bids $250,000; the entire value of his check! Jordan puts it up, going once… going twice… Josh bids $275,000, as Mike seethes. Sold. Caleb says he’s surprised the bidding went that high. Note, he didn’t put his million on the line. Jordan tells Mike, Chris, and Alex their group date is first. Mike says he wishes he had a million dollars to bid with, because he would have bid it all. Chris says he has to stand out on this date because he wants the money. Simple as that. And, they go to the beach on a gray day when it rained. Alex is sorry the sun didn’t come out and Rachel didn’t wear a bikini. Aw, darn. Alex quickly snags Rachel for teams in volleyball. He then snags her for some alone time, holding her hand, which makes her feel uncomfortable, she says. Alex says they made a connection. Rachel says she made a point of making him feel like they had a connection, because she can do that. She’s not really liking him. View Printable version of this article |
