Big Brother 5: The Next HOH… And What They’ll Do

by Sting7 -- 07/30/2004
Thursday night, we left the houseguests in the midst of the toughest HOH competition so far this year. The Horsemen know that it is crucial for them to win this one, while the opposing alliance sees a golden opportunity to take control. Who wins HOH and who are they likely to nominate? Will Holly’s eviction be avenged? This article contains spoiler information!

As you may know by now (and you at least know the beginning if you saw Thursday’s episode), the HOH competition was the biggest endurance challenge in Big Brother history! It finally came down to two people who are fueled by a certain kind of rage – you could even say they were fueled by Holly’s eviction!

Jase went along with the plan of the Horsemen, primarily because he ran out of arguments to oppose it. Doesn’t mean he’s happy about it, though. He barely had time to grieve before being stuck on a pedestal with his finger pushing a button in his mouth. If Jase wins, it will be fascinating to see who he nominates. No one, and I mean no one, would be beyond contemplation!

Diane couldn’t stand Holly. She had plenty of reasons. Holly somehow saw her as a threat from the first day. Diane saw Holly as everything she detests about women sometimes. But, Holly is gone, and Diane is far too outspoken to even pretend to be upset about it.

Nine and some-odd hours later (click here for the details), Diane is the new HOH! So who will she nominate?

Well, her alliance, Will, Karen, Adria/Natalie (I can’t wait to see the reaction next week when Natalie comes to the house on her own) and new best friend, Nokomis are definitely safe. The others? Not so much.

Drew - her cuddle buddy, and her biggest source of aggravation. Diane just saw how being in an established couple can be deadly in this game. She and Drew are now the only couple in the house. Diane’s slip of the tongue set off an incendiary couple of days in the house, so she may feel the need to regain some trust in her alliance. What better way of saying she is solidly with her alliance than putting up her boyfriend? Diane also felt like Drew didn’t defend her in her fights with Scott and Jase, and we know she can hold a grudge. She’ll forgive, but she’ll never forget, especially if she trusted you enough to let you get close. Yeah, Drew could very well be in trouble. Odds of nomination: 15 to 1

Scott - at times, has been downright nasty to her. On more than one occasion he has brought her to tears! Scott, being Scott, will have his lips firmly pressed to her buns before nominations, but she’s too smart to fall for that. Scott’s cock of the walk routine definitely grates her nerves, and she can definitely foresee having a better time without him. Odds of nomination: 5 to 1

Marvin - is a nice enough guy, but you almost get the feeling that no one ever told him about that line you shouldn’t cross with women. Marvin may have said every inappropriate thing you can say to Diane. He loves to touch her. She’d love it if he didn’t. Yet, Marvin has been an ear for her when she’s wanted to vent (usually about Holly and Jase). At the end of the day, Marvin is a nomination she could make without it really upsetting anyone in the house. But, Diane’s emotions get the best of her and if Marvin missteps again, she could be willing to exact some revenge. Odds of nomination: 7 to 1

Michael - sadly, Michael has allowed himself to be something of a puppet for Scott and Jase. The level of respect for him in the house has plummeted drastically. Michael and Diane haven’t really had any problems with each other, and Diane’s budding friendship with Nokomis works to Michael’s advantage – Diane would have a hard time nominating Nokomis’ brother, no matter how much Nokomis doesn’t seem to mind anymore. Odds of nomination: 10 to 1

Jase - Jase is being nominated. Let’s not kid ourselves! Jase being nominated could make her the heroine of the house – of the world! Jase tried to offer deals to Will and Diane in the closing moments of the HOH competition, Will took the deal, Diane flat refused. What does that tell you? He’s going up! Odds of nominations: Even!

All told, CBS should toss these folks a bonus for one the most unpredictable and exciting installment of Big Brother in years! What Diane will do is anyone’s guess, and as we’ve seen with Holly, decisions can change in mere seconds. What does Diane do? Stay tuned.
