How Did NBC Announce the Last Comic Standing 3 Winner?by Dale Sherman -- 10/13/2004
View Printable version of this article 7:59 pm EST and the Father of the Pride marathon is just about to start. Will I be sitting through 90 minutes of FotP just to find out how NBC will announce the winner? I should, but . . . Oh darn, Jill just rented Ju-on: The Grudge 2 and it has to be back at the rental place tomorrow morning. Well, I can’t disappoint her, and I really did want to see it, so Japanese horror movie with scary long-haired women it is. 9:45 pm EST and the movie is over. I turn on the recorder to see what was aired during the Father of the Pride marathon. Rather, I fast-forward through it. I see a brief ad at the beginning of the marathon mentioning LCS3, but nothing else during the entire 90 minutes. I rewind the recording and still can’t find anything beyond the ad at the beginning of the marathon. Decide to slow down the recording to hear what the announcer had to say. Thus, at 8:00 pm EST, NBC showed some snippets of LCS3 while a NBC announcer said, "Last Comic Standing will not be seen tonight . . ." A mention was made that the finale would appear on Comedy Central this weekend, and then -- ". . . If you want to know the winner, you'll want to go to NBC.com. Now stay tuned for the Father of the Pride marathon!" (If for some reason you’ve read this far but don’t want to know who won Last Comic Standing 3 and who came in second, stop reading now!) Sure enough, if you go over to the LCS3 website on NBC.com, you find the marquee saying "The Votes Are In! Alonzo Bodden WINS!" And then a picture of Alonzo, with a link to see some of his winning set. So congrats to Alonzo Bodden for winning LCS3. Too bad the network couldn’t see fit to allow him the opportunity to be seen winning on national network television, but at least fans that have Comedy Central will get that chance this coming Saturday, October 16, at 8:00 pm EST for the half-hour finale that WILL air there. And folks, we still have more LCS news to come, including an interview with the winner of LCS3, Alonzo Bodden, fresh out of filming the finale tonight, along with a new interview with the first runner-up (yep, you heard that right, FIRST runner-up), Dave Mordal. Plus, we have plans in the work for interviews with a couple of other big stars of Last Comic Standing within the next week, so keep an eye out right here on RealityNewsOnline for more details and follow-ups in the days to come.
