The Apprentice 2: Say What You Want – Sandy Should Have Wonby Phil Kural -- 12/10/2004
View Printable version of this article I didn’t watch the first season of The Apprentice. Let me say that right off the bat. I don’t really think that has anything to do with what this article is about, but anytime I tell people that I like Sandy, they always tell me that she would have been eaten alive last season. I didn’t watch it, so I really don’t care. I watched this season, and what I know is that I think Sandy should have won. I was devastated when she was fired. Let me tell you why I think she should have won. Do you understand that in this day in age, starting your own business is one of the hardest things any American could do? It’s not as easy as you think. More than half of businesses started by private individuals are crushed within their first year – it’s a fact. Sandy was able to not only open her own business, but open two stores! To me, that shows that she has determination. When I watched the first episode of The Apprentice this season, I picked Elizabeth and Sandy to make it all the way. Well, maybe I was a little wrong with Elizabeth, but I still like her. With Sandy, I hit the nail on the head – she has the moxy and grit to succeed. When she had to lead a task, she won. She was the perfect Project Manager, and was right on the task. Let someone say that she doesn’t have any business sense – I’d challenge that in a second. Maybe she doesn’t have the corporate training, but that can always be taught. When Kelly was Project Manager of the task when the teams had to set up a wedding shop, who did he turn to – Sandy! Yes, maybe it is her field, but she still pulled it off, and not only did they beat their competition, but they crushed them. I just feel like Sandy was given the shaft, and just because she didn’t have the experience that the other two people had, she was fired. Is that fair? Nope, but is that business? Yes! In my opinion, Sandy should still be on the show. Well, maybe I am the kind of person to complain when the person that I think should win is eliminated; and yes, maybe this article has something to do with that. The fact is, I like Sandy, and I just wish that Mr. Trump could have looked past the fact that Jennifer can argue better and went to a better school as a way to get rid of Sandy. In the real world, you have to realize that what school you went to helps, but it’s not everything. I’m a recent graduate, and I can vouch that it has nothing to do with what you know, but who you know.
I have no doubt in my mind that Sandy will be a success and I wish her the best. I’ve never rooted for someone on a reality show the way I’ve rooted for Sandy. I hope she moves on from this and shows Trump that she is what he needed. Good luck Sandy, I’m silently rooting for you in the background! As far as who should win now? Oh, who cares! I guess Kelly! Do I have to choose? Yeah, I guess I do, and I’d take Kelly. Don’t ask me why – I still think it should have been Sandy, but on that note, off I go!
