High School Reunion 3, Episode 4: Bringing On the Pain

by Tyler Sandersfeld -- 12/30/2004
Quiz Time: Which is the most painful? A) Knowing a long-distance relationship won’t work; B) An old rival smacking you down on the ground; C) Watching said rival hit on your girl; D) Trying to understand Jen (right); E) Listening to the same thing over and over again. In this episode, all these answers are correct!

It’s Day 7 at the Reunion Estate, and the girls return from their slumber party. They come into the house and witness something truly horrifying: their bras and underwear are hanging all over the place. I especially like the pink bra with the waffles. Nikki tells us about the disgustingly awesome sight, and believes she needs to throw out the undies Brian wore to the party the night before. Come on, is he really that bad?

Gianni is still trying to understand everything that went down with Loretta’s Secret Admirer Hall Pass. Brian reassures him, saying that nothing went down and he should be safe, lest Jaime loses her mind again. Gianni reminds us about Loretta being the girl of his dreams and hoping for the best between them now. We know, we know already! This show is starting to get extremely repetitive.

Gianni finds another Hall Pass on his pillow. Sheesh, doesn’t anyone else get a Hall Pass? Anyway, he invites Loretta, they get packed, and leave the mansion. What’s this? No crazy rambling by Jaime? Maybe she didn’t get the memo.

The remaining classmates are goofing around when a package arrives at the front door. It’s from Cardinal Gibbons’ rival, Douglas. The public school boys have challenged our private Catholic school boys to a football game! If Gibbons wins, the Douglas boys have to go home. If Douglas wins, they get to party with the Gibbons girls! Everyone’s excited, especially the girls. John says that public schools naturally dislike private schools, calling them over-privileged. True, but I know quite a few spoiled brats from my public high school days as well.

Gianni and Loretta are on their Hall Pass. We see gorgeous Loretta and pretty boy Gianni swimming together at a lovely waterfall. It’s almost too beautiful for me (gag). There isn’t much talking between the two, since their tongues are constantly in each other’s mouths.

Back at the mansion, the girls practice their cheering. Torie tells us that the girls plan to distract the Douglas guys with their bodies. That’s a good idea in theory, but since the girls are more or less a “prize” for the Douglas boys, they might be more of an encouragement than a distraction.

Speaking of distraction, the classmates worry that one of the Douglas boys may be Keegan. Apparently, Nikol and Keegan had a small date in sophomore year, when Jim and Nikol were still together. This eventually led to the break-up, and a short stint between Nikol and Keegan. Jim says he doesn’t need a distraction like Keegan ruining the relationship between him and Nikol now.

The next scene just mentions the game starting at 9:00 a.m., and a few more worries about Keegan. Nothing much.

John and Torie talk together in the pool. John tells us that he thought Torie was a bitch in high school, but he’s starting to turn on to her now. Torie isn’t feeling the same way, though.

Gianni and Loretta talk together at the Hall Pass. Nothing they say is really worth remembering, except when Loretta says she and Gianni are on the same mindset. Gianni’s a bit worried that Loretta is holding back her true feelings due to the whole Italy-Florida, long-distance obstacle. They kiss together on the bed. You think they did it? I can’t tell.

Torie and Brien are together again. Everything they say is old. Honestly, they played that clip with Brien’s and Torie’s high school video clips three times already! John watches in the distance, seething.

With the coming of the rivals from Douglas, Nikki feels she might get a second opportunity for romance. She’s a bit reserved, saying she doesn’t want to hook up just to hook up. She has changed since high school, and will not be as weak as she was in back then.

It’s Day 8. Gianni and Loretta eat breakfast, wondering if anything’s going on back at the mansion. Surely nothing as important as a football game with the rival school.

The girls practice their cheers some more. Nikol remembers cheering for Jim in high school. Everyone’s a bit bummed since Gianni and Loretta haven’t shown up yet.
