The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott, Episode 7: The Triple Threatby Chris Jakobi -- 02/10/2005
View Printable version of this article Last week on The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott: The eight performers flew to Las Vegas where they had to battle each other in a boxing-like match. Nic ended up getting “derogatory on Nilyne’s ass” and Marcus was weak on his freestyling. In a surprise, Missy sent them both home. The final six contestants wake up back in the Real World Suite at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Matt tells us that nobody left has been in the Spotlight. Nilyne misses Nic a little because of the relationship she had with him. She says that Jessica and Deltrice have a very tight relationship. They all go down to a limo where they get a letter, which describes their next road challenge. They all have to sing or rap as a group of six in the limo. When the limo stops they all have to make a decision to eliminate each other one by one. Jessica tells us that she didn’t want to vote anyone off. They have one hour to complete the task. The girls and Matt sing while Akil plays his guitar. Akil and Eddie rap and they stop. Matt votes for Nilyne. Akil, Eddie, and Deltrice all vote for Bucky. I have no idea who Bucky is but Matt leaves the limo so I’m guessing it’s him. Nilyne tells us that she sees herself as almost a fly on the wall with Deltrice and Jessica there. The limo stops and they unanimously vote off Nilyne. Eddie tries to sing… and he fails. The limo stops and everyone votes out Eddie. Akil sings but when the limo stops he sees the writing on the wall and he goes out himself. But he asks who will be the last one in the limo. Deltrice and Jessica just look at each other. Deltrice sees all of this as another face-off against Jessica. The previous one was the boxing challenge last episode. Jessica tells us that Deltrice always reminded her of Aaliyah, which I can kind of see. They both talk it over and Jessica wants to stay. Deltrice starts crying (surprisingly) and says that she will step out of the limo, giving Jessica the win. Jessica cries as the limo leaves and says that she couldn’t handle it if Deltrice lost because of this. All six are joined back together and go to a dance studio where they meet Missy’s choreographer, Hi-Hat. Yes, Hi-Hat. And yes, it’s spelled that way. And yes, she’s wearing a hat. That is probably a nickname with a hilarious background story but to strangers like you and me, we just stare and question. Missy says in an interview that as performers they have to know how to dance. They all get dance lessons from Hi-Hat. All the performers are back in the Real World Suite and Missy drops by with her dancers to say hello. She asks Nilyne about derogatory Nic last night. Nilyne says that lyrically he won but… Missy is shocked by this and wants to know if Nilyne felt degraded, which she didn’t. Missy felt that she should’ve felt bothered for her and all the other women there. Later they all get a letter that gives the winner of the road challenges, Jessica, $600 in chips. The other five get $600 to split. The six performers go up to their next performance challenge. Mona, Teena, Dallas, and Hi-Hat are all there. They all know that since Hi-Hat is there, they will be dancing. When Mona hits a button the music will play and they will all start their dance that Hi-Hat taught them. When Mona hits the button again, the music will stop as will they. Mona hits the button and Missy’s song “Gossip Folks” plays. They all start dancing and everyone is pretty good for the most part except for Eddie. Mona hits the button again and they stop. Jessica is first to go up individually. Mona asks her to make up a rhyme about being is Vegas. She does well, and Akil tells us that he thinks Jessica is dope. Akil is next and he has to rhyme about being in the competition. During his performance Matt says that Akil is “super consistent.” View Printable version of this article |
