Caesars 24/7, Episode 9: Love Gambleby Brian Towers -- 03/09/2005
View Printable version of this article This is the second of two back-to-back half-hour episodes of Caesars 24/7 airing tonight. Read on to get the lowdown of the second episode. You can read about Click herethe first episode here. The show opens as usual with a few teasers of the rest of the episode. Divorced girls partying, Elvis impersonators of various sizes… does it get any better? A group of three spirited divorced gals who initially met in an internet chat-room finally get to meet face to face. They exchange stories. Morgan was only married 18 months and is freshly divorced. She tears up her divorce papers for us. Jennifer was married for six years and has been divorced for four. She found her older husband to be over-protective. Janet was married for 15 years and has been divorced for three, because she was supporting her idle husband. All are here to celebrate their freedom together and engage in some male-bashing. The second story is an interesting one about the Caesars limousine service. They run a busy operation, shuttling people of many nationalities to the airport and to shows. Philip Limina has been a driver for eight years and enjoys his job. One night, an Italian father and son hop into his limo and when he asks where they want to go, the son responds, “Sinatra.” It turns out the dad is a big Sinatra fan. It also turns out, like many visitors to North America, they don’t speak much English. Philip drives them to Frank Sinatra Drive. Nope, that isn’t right, and they’re visibly disappointed and upset. A brainwave hits, and Philip takes them to see the Sinatra impersonator in the Rat Pack show, whom Peter knows personally. They seem to think he’s the real Frank Sinatra! [Note: the real Sinatra died in 1998.] Backstage, they shake hands and take photos. Cute story! The divorcees decide to pawn their wedding rings to get enough cash to party. The three rings are good for $800. Morgan seems disappointed that there isn’t more, but they decide to take the loan. The pawnbroker says, “Don’t spend it all in one place!” Well, we all know they will probably be spending it all at Caesars, but at least it makes better TV for us! Chauffer Robert picks up Don, who bears a resemblance to Elvis Presley. Don has been to Graceland often, and has now come to Vegas to see one of the better Elvis impersonators. Don is still learning to be an Elvis impersonator himself, and is looking for tips. They find their target at The Flamingo. He’s a big man – 620 pounds! Don and Big Elvis seem to bond right away, and Big Elvis takes Don inside to see his dressing room. We switch stories back to the divorcees. They are at the roulette tables. Five minutes later, they are already up $310! However, they are back to where they started by the ten-minute mark. They lose a little more and remarkably, they are smart enough to bail at that point. Other weeks, we’ve seen a stack of cash like this reduced to a memory all too often. The ladies don’t mind – it’s time to party instead! The trio meets up with several guys at the bar. They seem surprised that the guys are so friendly. Well, duh! Morgan especially is getting a little tipsy and a little flirty, but it seems like all good fun. Changing scenes, Big Elvis lends Don a size-appropriate white Elvis costume. It looks good on him! Unfortunately, it’s now show-time for Big Elvis, so Don has to go and joins the audience. As a surprise treat, Big Elvis brings Don up on stage to perform with him, calling him “Little Elvis.” That’s cute too – Don is a normal-sized man. They sing “America The Beautiful” as a duet and it seems to go well. As Don gets back in the limo, you can see he’s happy and he had a good time. Theresa Price has been a blackjack dealer for 25 years and she’s a sucker for love stories. People have proposed over a game, and other couples have met at her table. One couple (Jeremy and Marita) has decided that if they can convert $1,500 to $3,000 at the tables, they’ll move in together. He starts out well, and the crowd is egging him on to shoot the works on one hand and marry Marita if he wins. View Printable version of this article |
