by Joan Perry -- 03/12/2005
This week the boys get schooled in paintball by Uncle Pete and Luigi. And Victoria looks into bottling and selling her Gotti family spaghetti sauce (right).

We start off this week with Sunday family dinner, a Gotti tradition. Victoria says that she’s a pretty darn good cook. She has to be, in order to keep her boys coming back to the table. The spread she has put out looks so good that I would drive to New York to get it! Incredible. Anyway, John says that he is getting a paintball gun.

Some kid shows up at the house and has the paintball gun in his car trunk. Frankie has a paintball gun, too, so they go out and start shooting around the pool area and at the trees. Luigi says he’s going to spank them because of the mess they’re making. He tells them to put the guns away before someone gets hurt. But then he says that he and the boys’ Uncle Peter used to play upstate when the boys were little. And after the boys have gone inside, Luigi picks up one of the guns and shoots the target they’d been aiming at – repeatedly. He’s not a bad shot, actually.

But the house has turned into a war zone. Victoria could use an escape, so she’s trying to get into the gourmet food business. She and Robert head to a gourmet food store to check out the competition. They’re going to try out all the spaghetti sauces. What sets her sauce apart from the others, she hopes, is the traditional family recipe. She’s embellished it a bit, but the recipe is top-secret. Even Robert can’t see the ingredients. They conduct a taste test with the different sauces they got at the store. They even cover up all of the labels by wrapping the jars in paper towels. Robert does not like ANY of the sauces in the jars, but he LOVES Victoria’s, of course.

Meanwhile, Victoria has asked Pete to talk to the boys about the paintball. He stops by and follows the sound of a paintball gun being shot repeatedly, but it’s Luigi! Pete says that the boys should play paintball in the woods, and Luigi and Pete are going to take them. Victoria says that instead of teaching her boys a lesson, Pete has challenged them to a paintball war. Yes, but at least her property won’t be covered in hot pink paint!

Understandably, Victoria wants a more unbiased opinion on her spaghetti sauce, which she calls, “Sunday gravy.” She calls her friend Nino, of Nino’s Ristorante in New York, and asks him if she can bring some of her “Sunday gravy” to test it out on some of his diners. He is afraid that his customers will think her sauce is better than his, but she can still do it. Robert and Victoria pack up the sauce and head out.

It’s off to the woods for some paintball. Everyone wears camouflage, and it’s Pete’s team (wearing green armbands) versus the boys’ team (orange armbands). Pete’s strategy is to leave the flag unguarded. But back at the boys’ flag station, they notice that there are green bands tied on the trees. So they take one off a tree, and Carmine ties it on his arm. He plans to mount a sneak attack, with no one on Pete’s team realizing who it is.

At Nino’s, Victoria puts on a hat and dishes up her sauce.

Back in the woods, Carmine is advancing on Pete’s flag station, and Pete’s team can’t understand why someone on their team is shooting at them! Pete figures it out pretty quickly. “It’s that sneaky bastard, Carmine.” Ha! Everyone takes aim at Carmine, and they get him pretty good. It’s even funnier shown in slow motion. Pete is determined to win now and tells Luigi that they are going to go out on a little suicide mission. Luigi is going to draw out as many of them as he can, and Pete is going to meet up with the rest of the guys and storm the fort. Six of the boys are going after Pete’s flag, and three are staying behind to guard their own. Luigi sees one of them and gets a few of the boys. They’re shocked that it’s Luigi. They shoot back, but as it turns out, Luigi got all six of them! The only kids remaining are the three at the flag station. The adults run in after the kids, and the adults win! They shoot into the air in celebration.

At Nino’s, the customers like the sauce! Some of their comments include, “Very good;” “delicious;” and “very, very nice.” Robert interviews the customers, and they say they’d buy the sauce if it was available in a jar. Victoria is going to bottle and sell her sauce.

Back at home, Victoria hopes that the boys can take up some peaceful hobbies, like cooking. But when she sees the paintball gun on the counter, she can’t resist. She asks John to teach her how to shoot the paintball gun, and she just goes right to the front door and starts shooting at her own property. Awesome!
