“Broke Ass People Like Me Deserve a Chance to Win”: An Interview with Survivor’s Jamesby David Bloomberg -- 03/31/2005
View Printable version of this article James received a lot of screen time for his commentary on the game of Survivor, but ultimately was voted out as Ulong continued to disintegrate. In this interview, he tells us more about what we didn’t see on the show. RealityNewsOnline: Hello, James, and thanks for taking the time to answer these questions from RealityNewsOnline! Starting before you even got on the boat for Palau, what was your initial game plan coming into Survivor? James: I was planning on being myself. Showing to the world that broke ass people like me deserve a chance to win a million dollars. RNO: What do you think you could have done differently to last longer? James: Welp, to tell you the truth I should have voted off Bobby Jon when I had the chance and spared Angie. Then lazy ass Ibrehem would have been next. Then I would have then been with Angie and Steph. RNO: We saw very little scheming, plotting, or alliance-making on Ulong – did you have any solid alliances? James: Steph and Angie (you know the one I voted off) they were my alliances. RNO: We saw you talking to Stephenie about how Bobby Jon would never vote for you – but did you talk to Bobby Jon before that Tribal Council? James: No I did not. Had he asked me if I voted for him, I would have been honest unlike Steph. I did not vote for him. RNO: What is your take on why Ulong had the worst immunity challenge losing streak ever? James: Humm, let me see. Because we had strong-looking men who could not hold their own. Testosterone caused us to butt heads. RNO: Out of all the immunity challenges, which one should your tribe have won? James: The sake bottles. But damn Ibrehem non-swimmin ass caused us to lose it. Could have gotten back on raft as I YELLED several times. And sent one of us who was not afraid of water. RNO: How much of a morale booster was the winning the reward challenge? James: Oh hell yea, that was the best one we ever had. Oops I mean the only one we ever had. Hell I love Pringles. Get me a endorsement. RNO: What was your game plan if you made it to a merge that badly outmanned? James: To win every challenge and gain immunity. Not until I could teach someone to fish for me. RNO: Last week, it seemed that you wanted Ibrehem gone because of his failure in the immunity challenge. But later you also talked about not getting along in camp, etc. What is the full reason you wanted him gone? James: Cause he was lazy, I was tired of telling him what to do all the time. RNO: Is there anything else you want to tell our readers about yourself or your time on Survivor? James: I want to tell all y’all, I am still broke. I am in need of a job. Any one have a truck they no longer need? And if someone wants to donate a trailer or home for me and my family to live, contact my people. I learned family is important and you can never take for granted food, shelter, and family. I may be poor, but I am rich in family. RNO: Thanks again, James!
