Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, Finale: You Say Wedding, I Say Clip Show

by Jenn Brasler -- 06/15/2005
The season ends with a… nothing, really, as Britney and Kevin get married. No, really, that’s it. Are you surprised?

Previously on After a Long Day at Work, I Love to Unwind with Dumb Celebrities: the whole series. Just go read the recaps; there are only four. Oh, and Britney and Kevin got engaged.

L.A. Kevterview says that they first planned to have a huge wedding in Santa Barbara. They wanted to keep it quiet from the press. Felterview says that a tabloid disclosed the location of the wedding and Britney got upset, since she didn’t want the press to disrupt the ceremony. Kevterview explains that it was turning into an event instead of a wedding. They wanted it to be about them, not the world. Felicia assured them that they could pull off a secret wedding, so they went for it. Briterview says that they wanted to do something small and quick.

Kevterview says that they shaved things down to 30 guests. Felterview explains that they picked out a mother-daughter wedding planner team, who offered the use of their own home for the ceremony. Britney’s friends were coming for a wedding shower, so they turned the shower into an engagement party, which was actually the wedding. (Confused yet?) They told the dressmaker that it was a fitting and the cake people that it was a tasting. Everyone thought it was just a big party.

Felterview says that when she and Britney arrived at the house, no one else was there. Briterview thinks the place looked perfect. Felterview loved the flowers and the way the backyard was decorated.

Studio City, CA, September 18th, 2004. Kevterview says that the press found out about the wedding anyway; they even found out the location and are outside the house, taking pictures of people arriving. We see the arriving guests get their invitations; they’re all shocked to see that they’re at a wedding, not an engagement party. One guy asks, “Where’s Ashton?” Hee. Lynn wonders if it’s a joke. She says she’s not dressed for the wedding, but she thinks the place looks beautiful. She hugs Kevin. Briterview says that she thinks Lynn was nervous because it wasn’t a big, traditional wedding, but she liked it in the end.

Felterview says that she had to tell the makeup woman that the party was actually a wedding. She thinks it was the biggest, best-kept secret. Briterview says that her dress was perfect and she felt like a princess. Felterview had to tell her she couldn’t see Kevin and force her to stay upstairs.

The bridesmaids arrive, learn that the wedding is about to take place, and freak out. Britney’s first cousin Laura Lynne (LLterview) thinks that everything was perfect. Another girl wonders how “Big Mouth” kept everything a secret. Kevin’s friends are there as well; his best man is Jimmy and one of his groomsmen is Eddie, who hired Kevin to tour with Pink. Edterview and Jimterview say that they didn’t realize the wedding was going to be that night.

Britney’s sister Jamie-Lynn is one of the last people to arrive; she doesn’t look thrilled that so many photographers are there. Briterview and Kevterview explain that Jamie-Lynn thought everyone knew except her. When she found out that everyone had been in the dark, she wondered if they were being Punk’d.

Britney’s dad Jamie still doesn’t get what’s going on. Someone suggests that he read his invitation. Jamie does so and comments, “That makes a little difference.” He tells Kevin not to play around like that anymore.

Photo montage! LLterview says that the bridesmaids all had their fittings the night before, thinking that it was for a wedding the next month. Kevterview says that, however, the alterations were all made overnight. Britney gets ready. Kevin gets ready. Felterview says that the guys were downstairs and the girls were upstairs. They had almost as much fun getting ready as they did during the actual ceremony.

More getting ready. The bridesmaids’ dresses are pretty, but red. Kevterview says that he was nervous. Thanks for the news flash. His brothers Chris and Curtis are there, as is Britney’s brother Bryan. Edterview says that it was nice to be there with Kevin on his big day. Felterview doesn’t think that Britney realized how emotional things would be until she walked downstairs and saw Jamie. Kevin worried that she was going to pull a runaway bride and take off. He was a happy kind of nervous.

Wedding video montage! The montage is over “Love Song,” but it’s the 311 version, not the Cure version. Unacceptable! The wedding is pretty normal; there isn’t much to say. At the end, as Britney and Kevin kiss, people throw flowers.
