Dancing with the Stars, Episode 5: Suxy!Page 2View Printable version of this article Bruno begins by giving his feedback in Spanish. Eventually, he switches to English and tells the couple that they once again told a story. Len says that their technique was pretty good, the routine was beautiful, and the performance was great. Carrie says that the routine was sophisticated and they are once again the couple to beat. The judges are then ready with their scores. Again, all thee give Charlotte and John nines for a total of 27 points. Tonight, they have received 54 points out of 60. John tells Charlotte that she is the best teacher in the world. Tom says that it looks like it is going to be a fight for second place (implying that Charlotte and John have wrapped up first place). Later on after a commercial break, he corrects himself and says that he was only referring to the judges’ votes since we don’t know how the viewing audience voted. Right. Kelly and Alec are now ready to dance the paso doble. Again, I don’t know the name of the song they are dancing to this evening. It is performed in Spanish and I could hum it for you, but that doesn’t help us, does it? Sigh. During their performance, Kelly and Alec demonstrate a lot of hip action. Their routine is very upbeat and sexy, and of course they also include the stomping moves. When the couple is ready for their feedback, Tom tells us that once again, Kelly can’t get a microphone on her outfit because of its skimpiness. He rushes people with their questions and answers, yet spends so much time on this witty commentary? Yikes. Len says that he was worried Kelly wouldn’t be able to keep up with Alec, but she did. Oh, and she should lift her rib cage more. Carries says that Kelly has great lines. Bruno states that the routine was “suxy.” Then he says it was sexy and sultry. I hate when I combine words like that. He goes on to say that Kelly used her assets properly. Kelly and Alec are ready for the judges’ scores. Carrie gives them a nine, Len gives them an eight and Bruno gives them a “suxy” eight. For the paso doble, they receive 25 points. Their total from the judges is 47 out of 60. Alec says that he never thought they’d make it this far. Tantalizing Tidbit: On the judges’ page of the show’s web site, it is stated that Bruno appears in Elton John’s video for I’m Still Standing. “Suxy.” The last couple of the evening is Ashly and Joey once again. They will dance to “Eye of the Tiger.” As the music begins, the camera cuts to Kelly and Alec watching the performance. Hey, get back on the action. I had doubts as to how this song would work, but somehow Ashly and Joey make it happen. The music and their clothing isn’t what you would necessarily think of when you think of a bullfight, but everything comes together for a nice performance that is different from the others. Carrie provides her feedback and says she saw the eye of the tiger. Grrrrrrrrrrr! (Oh, no. The dog thinks I want to fight.) She says that was the best performance the couple ever gave. Bruno says that it was a convincing performance and that they had great lines. Len says it was a passionate and aggressive performance. He was also looking for a lot of basic steps and he found them. Ashly and Joey receive a nine from Carrie and an eight from each of Len and Bruno for a total of 25 points. When added to their other score, they have 45 out of 60. At this point, the scoreboard is as follows: Charlotte and John – 54 – 3 Kelly and Alec – 47 – 2 Ashly and Joey – 45 – 1 Time is running out, so Tom and Lisa take us right to the elimination. After adding tonight’s scores to the viewers’ scores from the previous week’s performance, the first couple moving on to the finals is… Charlotte and John. John looks positively emotional. The couple with the lowest score leaving the competition tonight is… Ashly and Joey. This means that Kelly and Alec, who have been berated along the way, are in the finals. Tom and Lisa both tell Ashly and Joey that they have enjoyed watching them and loved their passion. I have to agree that this was a fun couple to watch. While Charlotte and John are the sophisticated couple, and Kelly and Alec are the sexy couple, Ashly and Joey are the loveable couple. They also performed tremendously each week and should be proud of how far they have come with one another. Ashly and Joey step onto the dance floor and dance to “The Winner Takes it All.” As they dance, Joey gives Ashly props and she does the same for him. Notice that I didn’t say that this was Ashly and Joey’s last dance. The reason is because Tom mentioned that next week, all of our couples would be back to dance. Also, make sure you vote for your favorite and tune in to see which star will be named the ultimate winner in the competition. How will you be spending the evening? Are you having a Dancing with the Stars party or will you be watching the show alone and dancing with a picture of your unrequited love? (OK, that’s a bit scary!) Let me know; I’d love to hear how everyone is celebrating this event. In any case, I’ll be here with my faithful canine companion watching and recapping the show for you. Until then, be good to yourselves and keep on dancing. Now that you're caught up on what happened, be sure to check out what the Foxes On Idol judging panel had to say at We'll Be the Judge of That!
