Big Brother 6, July 27 Live Feeds: Does Eric Have a Chance?

by Toni Swats -- 07/28/2005
It’s Wednesday in the Big Brother house, which means voting. Is anybody switching sides? Will Eric or Maggie stay? And why has Eric adopted the “Michael Stare” tactic? Warning: This article contains spoiler material.

Eric, Ivette, and Rachel are up early in the Big Brother house today. Eric and Ivette are already talking about James betraying them. They want Rachel to swing her vote but know she won’t go against Howie, whom she’s grateful to for bringing her on the show. Eric wants Howie, Janelle, Kaysar, and James out the door as fast as possible.

Talk turns to religion, and Eric, Ivette, and Rachel feel that Kaysar is being a hypocrite for practicing his religion in the house while all of the events of the house contradict his religion’s teaching. What’s worse, is he also goes against his religion for things unrelated to the game—i.e. touching women for backrubs and so forth. Ivette says she feels like burning the Koran because Kaysar has “burned it himself” (figuratively of course.) Cappy puts a stop to that kind of talk. Of course, they make no mention of Beau bringing his Bible and how wrong that must be.

They talk some more about James and his hypocrisy, and Eric tells Rachel that James was gunning to break up her and Howie from week two. Eric “knows” he’s going home tomorrow and plans his packing and leaving. Eric wants to know how Rachel can join Howie siding with James knowing what a hypocrite James is. Rachel doesn’t answer, but I think I can: you side with power. James right now is in power. It’s a game.

Eric is apparently not as defeated as he makes himself out to be, because he begins to work on swinging Rachel’s vote to keep him in the house. Eric promises to take Rachel as far as he can and not break up her and Howie for a while, and assures her James will break them up next week if he has the chance. Rachel still sits in silence.

Eric, Ivette, Beau, Jennifer, and Maggie talk about swinging Rachel’s vote so the eviction becomes 5-3. The only thing is, they don’t know what Maggie wants. Nobody wants to vote Maggie out, but Eric is the stronger player. This kind of dilemma is bound to screw things up in the end. Eric tells April he definitely wants to stay, and is thinking about trying to swing Howie because Rachel probably won’t vote against Howie’s decision.

Eric tells Maggie privately he is telling everyone to vote based on the idea that both he and Maggie want to stay. But, Eric, if you don’t care who goes then why worry about swinging Rachel’s vote? If anyone is a hypocrite here, it’s Eric.

In the kitchen, Sarah tells Rachel she knows she and Howie must be “just friends” because Rachel is normal. Sarah talks about Howie giving her a hard time for misspelling her word in the spelling bee, and Sarah says she wasn’t lucky enough to get an easy word like “ham.”

Jennifer tells Kaysar she will vote with Sarah. Since Sarah’s voting with Eric’s side, that means Jennifer is telling him she is voting to keep Eric.

Rachel tells Howie that when she hangs out with Eric they don’t talk much, but that today Eric couldn’t believe anyone was mad at him for outing the paired players. Ivette thought it wasn’t fair to keep that information a secret. Rachel is incredulous; secrets are part of the game!

Rachel, saying she will vote with Howie, plans with him to be in a final four with Kaysar and Janelle and work to vote out James and Sarah. Kaysar informs them that Jennifer will vote with April and therefore the vote will be split (as far as we know.) Kaysar says they will still stay on course.

Ivette is ranting to James and Sarah about what makes her mad in the game. Mostly it’s people being duplicitous. Apparently Ivette has never seen Big Brother. Or Survivor. Or any one of a hundred other copycat reality shows that show you to make alliances and trust nobody.

Big Brother announces a warning not to discuss votes as Howie and Sarah chime in, “Dumbasses!”

Kaysar tells Janelle how happy he will be when Eric is gone, and explains to her why they are voting him out so early. Eric was a threat, so he must be put out early. Kaysar respected that he had a lot of power and expected him to go to the end if something wasn’t done to switch the tide. If Kaysar and Janelle get rid of Eric’s power, the weaker lambs in the fold will side with them – and they have.

Jennifer tells Ivette that when she gets out, Ivette will have a website with a fan club and pictures of her everything because people will love her that much.

Outside on lockdown, Maggie tells Eric in the hammock that she can tell Rachel voted against Kaysar and Howie’s party line. Kaysar is a good sport and takes pictures of Maggie and Eric in the hammock even though he said he wasn’t going to take pictures of them. He says, “Try to smile.” And they try to put on their fake smiles so the remaining players will have a nice picture to look at when the other is out. Howie then takes a picture of Kaysar beside Maggie and Eric in the hammock.

Rachel then takes a picture of Kaysar and Eric, and everyone seems to want to take pictures with Eric. How totally wild would it be if Eric was the one staying?! Eric is pretty amazed by the picture on the display of he and Kaysar with Kay’s arm around him.

Inside after lockdown, Sarah and James comment about how hard it was to take those pictures and Janelle is irritated by Eric’s yelling. Janelle and James say they’re glad he’ll be gone after tomorrow.
