Hooking Up, Episode 4: Choices, Good and Badby Jill Jones -- 08/05/2005
View Printable version of this article --Leo Buscaglia Making a decision can be an easy process; however, more often than not, it is the most difficult part of my day. Do I make pasta or chicken for dinner? Do I read the Big Brother recaps at RealityNewsOnline before or after I watch the actual program? Sigh. Of course I am exaggerating the simplicity of making decisions. Many of the choices that you and I make are actually quite serious and complicated. In fact, decisions affecting relationships are probably the hardest to make because we are affecting someone else’s life and potential happiness. Hopefully, when you are faced with this type of situation, you put some careful thought into it. Unfortunately, some of the women on Hooking Up seem to make choices and assessments based solely on chemistry after one date or even out of bouts anger. Let’s hope that on tonight’s episode, we see some mature choices being made for all the right reasons. If you failed to tune in last week, you missed a lot of laughs, heartache, and hope:
Tonight, we begin by learning from Amy that David is on his way home from the beautiful country of Costa Rica. (If you ever have a chance to visit, I highly recommend it.) She says that she doesn’t find some of his quirks to be cute. He tells us that Amy contacted him via e-mail and said she couldn’t pick him up at the airport. When you don’t get the airport pick-up, you know you are in trouble. She explains that she doesn’t feel herself around him. When he calls her to say hello, he does so in an annoying voice. She then compares being with him to being forced to watch Beavis and Butthead. She explains that she doesn’t like Beavis and Butthead. We see him singing “Sweet Child O’ Mine” karaoke style. I’m amused, but Amy obviously isn’t. She says she isn’t going to marry him so why bother. We meet Sonja, who is going to go out with Mike. He seems to be athletic and adventurous. Her roommate, Mark, says that she will not meet the man of her dreams on the Internet. I wonder why Mark is so negative. Sonja and Mike spend some time getting to know one another and talking about her twin sister. They seem to hit it off on their first date. In fact, he invites her back to his place for a drink and she says that could be dangerous. Amy is going to spend some time with Matthew. He states that they had some deep discussions on their first date. She realizes that David isn’t ready for what she wants. Sonja and Mike are now at his place kissing and discussing it. I guess when there is a lull in conversation, kiss and talk about your date’s techniques. Now Mike tries to unbutton her blouse. She repeatedly tells him that she wants to go home. He says he just wants to talk, but she knows better. She keeps explaining that it is their first date and she’s not going to stay over with him. He later tells us that he isn’t really interested in a woman who would go to bed on the first date. She says that “no means no” and that she wasn’t kidding when she said it. He made a comment earlier claiming that he’s basically done being a playboy. I don’t think his actions with Sonja support this at all. Reisha has been dating Acie for one week. He flies in from Atlanta to see her again. They seem like such a mature couple. For their date, they are taking a cooking lesson at her place. The chef giving them their lesson says that they are “lovey dovey.” At this point, my dog gags. I think she suddenly understands the English language, but it turns out to just be her version of a fur ball. View Printable version of this article |
