Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Season Finale: Over the Wall

by Phil Kural -- 09/27/2005
Three teams remain, but only one can win. It’s time for the finale of The Battle of the Network Reality Stars. Team Miz has dominated from the beginning, team Chip is losing morale, and team Underdog is just… there. Which of these teams will take the title? Will Ryan Starr (right) finally have her dose of karma Electra? Find out right here!

It began six weeks ago. Four teams began playing to win the first ever Battle of the Network Reality Stars. Along the way, there was betrayal, like when Ryan was all lovey-dovey with Charla and didn’t hesitate to have her voted out. There were eliminations, such as Jonathan and Victoria, who continued to bicker even when they were finished. There was also deception, as in when people were voted out and didn’t see it coming. However, there was also resurrection.

This week, one team will win it all. Can team Underdog pull off the perfect Cinderella story? Once harmonious, can team Chip get their act together? Does it really matter, since team Miz is so strong and basically walks all over everyone else? Only one team will rise to glory, and it begins now!

As you might remember, by winning last week, team Miz is automatically in the finals. The other two will face off in a tug-of-war to decide who will be in the finals. We begin in the locker rooms, where everyone is preparing.

Team Chip consists of Matt Gould, Sue Hawk, Dr. Will Kirby, Chip & Kim, and Theo. Theo tells Chip that he has to get the team more together. Dr. Will knows there is a problem, but does nothing about it. Sue is on Theo’s side, and while Chip knows he has to help with motivating, he just wants some help. It looks like a therapy session.

Team Underdog is also strategizing. They consist of Nikki McKibbin, Brian Worth, Rachel Love Fraser, Bradford Cohen, Mirna Hindoyan, and Adam Mesh. The team does some stretches and Bradford fills them in on how to do a perfect tug-of-war. He knows what he is doing, and everyone is listening. Brian just wants to show that they are reformed and can win this thing.

Over to team Miz, which has Richard Hatch, Ryan Starr, Heidi, Valerie, Burton, and the Miz. Rich says they are the strongest team and Burton admits that they are trying to be too overconfident. Valerie is all smiles, though, and thinks they have the whole thing locked up.

The tug-of-war is first, and in come the two teams. Matt says that he’s usually joking, but it’s all serious now. Bradford said he has never led such a strong team of underdogs in his life. Mike Adamle introduces us to the event, in which you must pull the Verizon flag past the Verizon post in order to win. I wonder who is sponsoring this show. It’s a best two out of three and your team weight can’t exceed 800 pounds and must include at least two women. Uh-oh, I can already tell team Chip is screwed, since they have Kim, who does nothing. She’s such a waste.

Both teams start working on their lineup and Chip says they are confident. Theo is a little pissed that he’s been in this so long and doesn’t even get to be in the tug-of-war. Does this guy ever stop complaining? I think I actually might hate team Chip. Bob Guiney has a word with team Underdog, who Bradford says he’s very proud of. Brian says he’s used to being the underdog and they are ready to bounce back. Omarosa talks with team Chip, and Chip says he’s hurting, but he’s not backing down. Sue tells Omarosa that they are going to win in two rounds and it’s going to be very fast.

Since this show for some reason loves to pimp Charla, she is there as the guest referee. Charla gets the teams ready and they both start pulling. However, team Underdog, using Bradford’s strategy, has no problems pulling the rope to their side. Kim looks like she’s not doing anything at all! Rachel gives her team some encouragement, since she’s the only one not participating, while team Chip begins to yell at one another. They know they have a horrible strategy, and Sue begins to go into trucker mode and yell at Chip. She’s even crying! Chip and Kim don’t look like they really care, and it’s pretty funny. Sue continues to rant about how she’s not a reality whore, which makes me think of all the game shows and other reality programs she has been on. Theo wants his team to be more fired up.

It’s time for round two, and Charla gets it going again. Both teams are working hard and it actually looks like team Chip is working together. They do begin to struggle, though, and the Underdogs take advantage of it, picking up steam. The Underdogs get all the leverage they need and pull the rope to their side, winning the event. Sue looks pissed as hell, and as the Underdogs hoot, holler, scream, and celebrate, team Miz looks on from their locker room and can’t believe it. Good for team Underdog, I say!

Trishelle has the winners, and they agree that they won by working as a team. Bradford says he did research on how to win a tug-of-war the night before and they stuck to the game plan. Nikki and Brian are happy that they eliminated the team that kicked them off. Theo and Sue are just pissed. Omarosa interviews the rest of team Chip, minus Sue and Theo, who wouldn’t participate. Chip says he doesn’t feel bad and still loves Sue and Theo. He forgives them for whatever they say about him since it’s in the heat of the moment.

Cue shots of Sue and Theo talking crap about Chip and Kim. Theo says the team lacked heart and Sue feels Chip was useless. Theo then compares his team to deaf cats(?). Chip just says Theo is a hot head and shrugs it off. Dr. Will comments that Sue is a nice person, but when she gets fired up, he wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alley. I’d rather see her in that light than during the day, Dr. Will! Matt understands everyone’s frustration, but he’s in Maui with a bunch of hot girls, so he’s not worried. Theo admits to being a sore loser as we say goodbye to team Chip. Thank goodness.

The final event will be a combination of four challenges, which teams must get to by using a map. They must fully complete each challenge before moving on to the next. The first team to the finish will win. Adam says that team Miz is the best, so they have to beat the best in order to win. Rachel knows that team Miz is strong and intimidating, but team Underdog is very underestimated. Ryan knows that team Underdog wants this bad, and Mirna adds that they have taken out two teams already and are now gunning for the last team left. Miz hypes his team up while Bradford says he’s not intimidated by them at all. They are reminded of the prizes once again. Each person from the winning team will win $10,000 and a trip for two to Vegas. Oh, and they’ll get $5,000 worth of slot credit as well. Not bad - not bad at all!
