“Too Many Chiefs and Not Enough Indians” – An Interview with The Amazing Race 8’s Godlewski Family

by Jenn Brasler -- 12/08/2005
The race’s bickering Pink Ladies (right) may have been eliminated this week, but that doesn’t mean we’ve heard the last of them. The ousted sisters tell us their strengths and weaknesses, what they most enjoyed about the race, and whether they would ever do it again.

RealityNewsOnline: Hi, Michelle, Tricia, Sharon, and Christine! I hope you all didn’t mind that I called you the Pink Ladies all season. Congrats on making it to fourth place! I’ve heard that there are more Godlewskis than we saw on TV. How did you all decide who would be on the race?

The Godlewskis: Five of us were interested and applied and CBS chose four of us. We have a sister Denise, 41, and a sister Diane, 30, and Michael is 44, so seven kids in all.

RNO: What did you see as each person’s strength? What about your weaknesses?

Christine: My strength was the map reading. Weakness was not being able to stand up for myself.

Michelle: I thought I was good at correcting Chris’s map reading.

Tricia: I was good at staying out of the drama.

Sharon: Strength was the physical tasks and the weakness was being too demanding during them.

RNO: What was each person’s favorite moment on the race?

Chris: Olympic ski jump into the pool.

Sharon: On the airplane, the 360.

Michelle: Scenery in Costa Rica that we were able to enjoy.

Tricia: Lake Powell when our boat passed the Linz family.

RNO: You all seemed to target Christine, whether purposely or not. Why is that?

The Godlewskis: We didn’t target her on purpose but tempers and emotions are high when racing.

RNO: We saw each of you leading at one time or another, but did anyone really take charge?

The Godlewskis: No.

RNO: What do you have to say about the Weavers?

The Godlewskis: America sees them for who they are. You see what we see.

RNO: We heard you say that you didn’t think your relationships would change after the race, but have they?

The Godlewskis: Not really.

RNO: What would you have done differently on the race?

The Godlewskis: Won the million dollars.

RNO: Is there anything you want people to know about you?

Chris: I would like people to know that I am a mom with four small children and I have been married 12 years.

RNO: Would you do the race again?

Chris: Yes, with my husband.

Tricia: Definitely.

Sharon and Michelle: With different partners.

The Godlewskis: There were too many chiefs and not enough Indians. We would be better with two member teams.

RNO: Thank you for the interview! You competed so well and I’m glad you all made it as far as you did.
